My 3-month-old RS Climate control decided to stop blowing cold air last week, every thing else works ie fans, climate controls etc, but no cold air!

I was not too worried at first as it’s under warranty, but when I dropped it off at my local dealer in Kent, the service guy at the desk commented that this is not the first RS with an aircon issue and it’s looking like a trend, maybe a recall for this issue?.

There was another RS also in their work shop for a new engine due to an air con fault!

Anyway, my car has been there a week now and not even an update! I will call them tomorrow to see what they have to say.

Is this a common issue I wonder?

    hi kenny

No water lost, why is that connected to an air con issue you know about?

I called Ford today and they are waiting for a part, ( they didn’t seem to want to say much more, so I’ve no idea where or what the fault is)

they expect another week for parts, seems a long time doesn’t it?

I think your best going and visiting them in person, and view your car at the same time just to see :-/

That does not sound very good if there is another faulty part like the first engines…but all good with warranty but sucks for the timeloss for each customer.

For myself I never drive with climate control except maybe when its over 36 degrees outside and I have to driver more than 1 hour. When I picked my car up in February 2017, I turned off AC and just turned it on last week once to check if it still works 😀

I noticed the other day how compared to my 2008 zetec focus the aircon wasn’t nearly as cold. Everything thing seems to be working. The air is cool but not cold

ianc,  I would pop down to Ford to get them to check anyway, to be honest, I only realized it wasn’t as cold as it should be during the really hot days a few weeks ago!

Air con update, Ford eventually replaced the AC compressor in September under warranty which is great, all working fine. But now, 1000 miles later its packed up again! ( I think this time it’s due the outside temperature sensor being faulty, it is permanently fixed at Zero C or -18f! and the ‘ice warning’ light it lit, apparantly the AC won’t come on when the car thinks its too cold.

    Booked in again next week!

Should I have bought a merc amg a45? I suppose you get what you pay for!

    p.s

I do highly recommend the Dreamscience Stratagem imap, I don’t know if it actually makes much more power as I’ve not dynoed the car, but the Mapping of the POWER DELIVERY is spot on! Can’t wait to compare it at Brands soon!

Not as if the Air Con will be over worked in this climate!

Need to use the air con regularly, even in the winter to ensure the lubricant keeps the seals and hoses internally treated.

8 months in and I havn’t even tried the wipers/ washers yet !! as for A/C , I think I’ve only turned the actual climate system on a handful of times for the fan !

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

I run my climate control always.

    For 2 reasons:

    1. Keep the gas/lubricant moving around the system. Keeps system in better shape.

    2. Keeps the dehumidifier working and the cabin air at lower moisture content.
