@coastliner they are not far off each other, i do some work for a company who makes one of the well know brands.. biggest part is normally kerosene like fuel & cleaner chemicals then mixed in.

Ive used wynn’s a few times, but if you stick to premium fuel its full of additives. Also My water meth does a good job of cleaning out all the other crap.

Big problem with the ‘pour into the tank’ cleaner additives is that they don’t help address the main problem of DI engines and that’s the build-up on the inlet valves.  Obviously, you need a cleaner direct into the inlet manifold for that.  Water/methanol injection does a nice double job.

There are various DI valve cleaners on the market and lots of YouTube clips but I wonder how effective these additives are.  A catch can (which I have) is probably the most effective way of reducing the problem.

@JohnD that was the major reason i fitted the Water meth injection, with a 5 nozzle system… 1 x intercooler pipe 4 x manifold inputs. Done a load of research on the cleaning affects of WMI, plus the performance benefit.

Using high quality fuel for years will reduce the carbon build-up.
You also reduce detonation and other things.
I cannot remember the last time I used 98 RON in my vehicle.
For the past 4 years I have only used 102 ARAL or 102 Shell V Power.
In my book the 70 EUR I pay extra a year more expensive petrol is worth it.
For the fun of it, 15000 km ago I used Chevron Techtron Concentrate Plus.
I also clean my injectors every second revision and with my latest headgasket surgery, my mechanic was pleasantly surprised to see the state of the engine. He made everything mint again when fixing the vehicle.
