So had my DS Ultima mapped RS on the rolling road today, lets just say it didn’t perform well. Yes the car seems to boost much better but based on the RR figures (353 Bhp and 355 lb-ft) I can’t recommend it. There were several other RS’s and they all more or less performed as expected.

    Hi Craig

Have you done a rolling road test with your car when it was stock? which other mods do you have on the car or is it stock and only the map Ultima on it?

So far and out from comparison with stock cars, my FRS pulling amazing! Even catch up easily with a AMG A45 ! Forgot to downshift and pulled in 3rd from around 40km/h and was just behind him full 3rd, full 4th and then he quit. Yes it is a high risk to go that fast in Switzerland, easiest way to jail here… no joking!

I will try to get a Dyno soon. Maybe you can do a rolling check with the 99+ too and compare to the graphs from Dreamscience. The Ultima map is no graph avaiable so far but maybe you can compare the 99+.

Because your results are now lower than the 99+ ? the 99+ is 377hp and 420lb-ft. Thats why I ask and no I am not a spy from there but I think my FRS just changed completely but I did not found any time to check it. Otherwise I will go for 99+ and do a dyno again to compare.

Out of interest craig.  what tuners had been used in the other RS that attended?

Hi guys. Just an observation while we’re on the subject of rolling roads and power curves in graphs…

I’ve not long sold my Evo IX which was slightly modified and properly mapped *on the road*. Took it for a power check on a dyno dynamics rolling road and the numbers were shockingly low. It was clearly not functioning as well as it did on the road and this was evidenced by the AFR trace on the RR displaying 10.0 (or lower) while the AFRs on a proper road run would be 11.8 to 12.0 as it was mapped to run.

In short – don’t get too hung up on dyno numbers. If the Ultima map outperforms the 99+ map while driving on the road, I would completely disregard any low numbers obtained on a dyno because they are clearly inaccurate.

    @Mark

Yes I agree with you but as I understood craig right, he did a rolling road dyno test run. We also have those measurement method here and then there is the dyno itself. I am not sure but I can not think that the Ultima map will perform lower than the 99+.

Lets see if I can get a measurement soon, then I will measure STOCK, 99+ and ULTIMA on my car to have all graphs. My car is not stock, there is Milltek exhaust system on it but I dont think this will make a huge difference except some noise 😀

Car is stock apart from Mountune air filter. My car was 2nd from bottom. All cars dynoed in FWD mode.

@ jasoni Other MK3 results for comparison –

    Dynow power

Regarding the learning time it makes a little difference but not ~30bhp

My car has been stock, 99+, ultima, back to stock, and today FPM375, and of them all ultima is by far the quickest.

How is ultima so low when everyone claims it feels fast and pulls hard ?

I am running the m380 with a lot of hardware and i am making almost 400hp, on a maha dyno which is very strict

A dyno is not where the car is driven.

It is true that some cars that are mapped on a dyno also work well on the road, but there are cars thatvare mapped on a dyno that don’t work well on the road.

Conversely, a car that pulls well in the real world often doesn’t “do the numbers” on a dyno.

Question: can the iMap perform some rudimentary data logging?

If so, all you need do is perform several 3rd or 4th gear WOT runs on the same piece of road, on the same day, with Stock map and other maps and then compare time stamps versus rpms to see which is more powerful.

There are also excel worksheets that can calculate power. I wouldn’t use the absolute values but you get a pretty accurate comparison of power between each map.

    Yours Aye

I also see the comment in craigs overview. Did you just load the map directly before the dyno run?

No driving with the car? I loaded my map and was driving seriously and slow with a light foot for over 200km before starting to test the new map.

I really have to say that my Focus is now accelerating in 3rd and 4th gear like before it was stock in 1st and 2nd gear… so could only be so low because you just flashed and instant jumped on the dyno. I dont know if newer cars will be able to give 100% after flash but my Ford Escort Cosworth needs a learning time to adjust himself each time I disconnect the battery or the ECU from the car!?

Ipwn, the differences between a settled ecu with an unsettled ecu is 3-5hp not more. Also, it is not possible for your car to do what you said it did, that would have to have the double hp to do so if more.

There is also the placebo effect you know, what i dont understand is why dreamscience wont post a dyno of the ultima map ( i dont even want to refer to the ultima 2 map ) , i mean at least we should have something to measure with.

    Anyhow

    Hi George

Yes I know the placebo effect but I am addicted and had a lot of fast cars and when I see the ESP flashing when pulling 3rd on hot and dry road I think I can say it pulls seriously different. Never did this before when was stock. Also compared to stock FRS 2017 on road and on autobahn. this was an amazing NO CHANCE for him. So yes a bit of placebo but my one pulls seriously hard.

Maybe I have luck and the flash works amazing on mine and bad on others like it is with a flash. Only a live dyno programm on your own car can push the best out of your car. Maybe in Winter I will go for a live mapping by GABAT in Austria. He is just amazing what he does on the YB Engines and all other fast cars.

But would like to see a graph from Dreamscience too what this map is doing on their dyno car. Is there a Ultima 2 incoming??
