Dose anyone on this forum work for ford or know if all cars already have the heating element built into the steering wheel? If so would it just be a case of  wiring up and retro fitting the heated steering wheel button. Or how much a ford dealer would charge to retro fit one after?

    Many thanks in advance.

I would say 99% sure the std steering wheels do not have the heating element in, and for me the option is a real non starter, if I was living in Siberia or Alaska, then I may want to order it, but in the UK? with global warming and the mild winters we get here? no, its just one of those ‘pub talk’ options where folk just like to reel off a long list of equipment their car has, I really would not bother with it, I’ve never ever got in any car and said ” oh that steering wheel is too cold for my handy wandys” !! Im more likely to have said to myself in the summer “christ that wheel is freaking hot, sun’s been on it all day” Same goes for heated seats too, real men just jump in a cold car and go, they dont go all girly and say “ooh, ive got a cold bum” !! its not even as if the seats are plastic/vinyl like they are in my MK 1 escort !!.. no PAS, no ABS, cold seats and wheel, been fine for me since 1983 !!

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

Love the minimalistic look. Less is more.

yes me too! thats how its been since I bought it in 1983, I had 30 years of driving it with a 4 speed, and got round to putting a 5 speed box in 3 years ago, so that along with the centre consol thing round the gearlevr and handbrake is all Ive added !

Hello Mike, I have the question.
In the Manual of the drive, it’ wriiten : F87 fuse for the heated steering wheel.
I choose the optional Recaro seats because I have it in my MK2 and I like these seats … but with the Optional Recaro you can’t have the heated steering wheel because it’s link with the heated seats. It’s very stupid ….

You can have the heated wheel with the CS seats, it’s 95 quid extra, I have it in my car..

    I can’t believe that !!
This option is not available in Belgium, Luxembourg and France.

I ask this to my reseller many time and the answer is not available with 763N (Performance pack RS1)
You are very lucky in the UK.
I’m going to ask to my reseller if a retro fit is available.

I’ve heard a retro fit is available but it’s not cheap, I’ve heard a price of 600 pounds to do it in the uk, not sure how true that is though..
