    Hi Neil,

Your right about not polishing it.

Ill keep it clean like I do all my cars and it will get detailed but it will get used that’s for sure.

I didn’t know Mountune were in difficulty so that’s interesting to here.

Ive not been in the Ford scene for along time so it’s basically all new to me.

    Thanks

    Hi Steve,

I think the term i recently read was (Mountune looking for a buyer) ?

Anyway as you seem like the type of person who is going to mod a little, Most of the people on here will have some knowledge on most things available.

Start with Color, Mileage, then spec if it has a few mods look at it as a saving, you have a good budget that so white one in Durham or something similar should be obtainable.

    Cheers!

Suggest a test drive with shell seats as everyone says they are not the most comfortable and sit too high , but everyone’s got there opinions about the seats , mine are   standard and are comfortable (very), also unless you have a garage for over night, personally sunroof no no , just another choice for would be thieves, and when you read this forum you will become aware of a spate of RS being nicked .  But all to their own sorry ,Paul m for stepping on your feed only just read and I’ve almost said like for like 😢🤣🤣👍

There’s no Apple car play for a start in the 2 version. And the look display is reported by many to be have a better display.

Some bullet points off the top of my head for you….

    • Security (3rd party alarm, disclock, tracker, OBD protection)
    • Seats (choose the best ones for you)
    • Sync 2 Vs 3, (After having both, 3 is much better)
    • If you go for an older one, make sure the head gasket is done – properly.
    • Tune, plenty of options from standard. (Mountune FPM375 was Ford warranty friendly)
    • After market, exhausts, intercooler, intake all popular
    • Options, sunroof, blue brake calipers, lux pack, wheels, winter pack, door protectors, city stop, wheels (& seats)
    • Mileage and service history. Like all cars, the price will reflect this but I think the RS is very sensitive to these.
    • Editions (red and n blue) released later and have better spec. Or, if you have plenty of spare cash, theres always a £60k orange Heritage edition.

    Good luck

Oh, I always say don’t buy the first one you test drive because if you’re after one, you’ll probably want it!

Some points to consider from above.

Thee help and advise you’ve kindly shared will help myself massively.

I’ve still got my old disk lock so that may fit.

I didn’t think security would be a issue with them but will look into it.

The mountain bikes I still have are worth more than the car and there ground anchored to the floor and the garage is seriously alarmed up so I suppose I could squeeze the car in and fasten it down.

My mate does it with his Escort Cosworth so maybe a idea.

    thanks

Sadly the budget is 25K smokin Joe.

PM car sales have a white one in I like the look of.

The garage has some nice cars and seems to get good reviews.

If your local is it a good garage?

    thanks.

    Thanks for the offer.

I’m going to contact them and have a chat about the car.

With the lock down I don’t think it’s possible to view the car and I’m not willing to buy one without having a good look around it and having one of the mechanics out of the workshop check it over for me aswell.

I’ll let you know what they say

Knowing what I know now I would want it checked over on a ramp preferably with undertray removed to make sure it doesn’t have the dreaded oil leak.

What dreaded oil leak is this coastliner?

Ive spoke with Paul about the white Focus RS  for sale at PM Car sales this morning.

Haven’t heard anything back this afternoon but in conversation he said most people don’t even view the cars they sell before buying.

I will be definitely wanting a look round it and like I’ve said I’ll take a chap out of the workshop at work and his son has offered to look over it as he’s a mechanic at a local Ford dealer.

my only concern with the Focus RS at PM car sales is it’s had 3 owners in 4 years.

The chap on the phone said this is quite common but I’d really like a one owner car, probably won’t get one with my budget sadly.

I’ll see what they come back with regarding Part-Ex on my A6 Avant and go from there.

Thanks again for the help and advice👍
