Suppose we agree that they can’t actually have babies, not having a knob between them, which is nobody’s fault, not even the Conservatives’, but that they can have the right to have babies and public money can be thrown at them to do so.

And on to the editorial on this ‘news’ article’. In short, they are obviously quite right to engage in legal activity that will cost our NHS thousands of pounds because their fantasyland existence should be subsidised by the rest of us. This is exactly what the NHS was founded for, certainly not for trifling matters like saving lives and promoting good health. We all know the NHS has a huge surplus of funds and resources available and this is precisely what our taxes should be spent on, FFS.
For your information, NICE suggests women aged under 40 should be offered three cycles of IVF treatment on the NHS, costing between £5,000 and £10,000 a round, if:
• they’ve been trying to get pregnant through regular unprotected sex for two years. Presumably their ‘trying’ involves attempting to impregnate some sperm into eggs and not just by hoping for divine intervention.
Or:
• They have not got pregnant after 12 cycles of artificial insemination.
Perhaps, just for thoroughness, they should be asked to provide evidence that they have been trying to get pregnant for at least 2 years – perhaps in the form of regular video updates showing them engaging appropriately with a person what has got, like, a penis.
If that proof is forthcoming then funds should be diverted from, oh I dunno, say child cancer treatments to support this important cause.
