That certainly looks as if it could have been very dangerous at any speed let alone 70mph?

Elliott I bet you have not broken my record of doing 94 mots in one week !! When I was 22 at HFEdwards FIAT in Epsom, around 1985, as mechanics we were on the usual bonus scheme , we had to do one week a month doing just mots, they made up for not earning bonus by paying a bonus of 50p per mot done. I had to bring the car in from the car park, do the mot, fill out the mot register and issue a fail or pass then take it out and bring another one in, 30 minutes each one. 18 a day and a few on Saturday morning. It was good as you got the odd tip from a customer but was knackering! Now you have to log on to dvla each one i think they dont like it if you do one quicker than 45 minutes regularly?

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

At least 240 a month. 41 minutes average test time. National average is 50 a month. 44 minutes so not too far off time wise.

Not really a horror story but I’ll keep it here as it’s mot related.

1975 mk1 Escort badged as RS2000.  Very clean, recent respray, lots of new suspension parts. Pinto with side draughts, N1 engine code on vin plate, original rivets.

Sailed through the test, just not sure  if it was the real deal though.

Sorry got no more photos, under pressure today , 11 tests ?

doesn’t look like Diamond white, more like earlier cars Ermine white. First thing I look at is the centre of the cross brace on underside of bonnet.it was modified at the factory to clear the big blue pinto airbox. And has a great big hole/slot cut in it ! Everything can be redone/ faked though nowadays !

First  gem of the day, 03 plate Corsa. Quite a list including this  tyre, presenter said that she had noticed a vibration for a couple of months. ? Then just drove off into the distance.

This must be read in the voice of the Legendary Sir David Attenborough, if you would be so kind……

    The N/S/R of a Corsa C.

    A great specimen indeed!!

I used to PDI these things back in the day!!

At the time they had a reasonable interior and a lovely steering wheel for a car of this class.

Definitely not a fore-runner but a decent wee Motor at the same time!!

Didn’t hold their value all that well though!!

Wasn’t long before the youth of the time seemed to get drawn to these beauties like a moth to a Bloody F**KEN flame… ?….

    Now then, as I recall…..

I believe the MINIMUM requirement was 17” Alloy wheels as one would expect… and replacing the rear silencer with a 4” piece of pipe that could be found on any local building site at the time and welded on by Big Jim!! Big Jim being the guy in the village who had a working Welding Machine!! Hur Hur.. ??.

Some would take the Tuning of this fine specimen, which is rarely seen these days, to a whole new level and remove all 4 x Springs from the vehicle and proceed to cut 2 x coils from each rear spring and 2 n a half coils off the front??

Then… by adding a SUBWOOFER, a couple of 6 x 9’s and a Pioneer Head Unit….. apparently one was guaranteed a STINKY FINGER by all accounts??!! ????.

Anyhoo, back to this particular article……..

Brake Pipe nicely coated in Crud, which means it’s fine, and shall hopefully regrow into numerous other little brake pipes that shall lay dormant on the underside of our vehicles just waiting…….. TO EXPLODE!!!

Exploding Brake pipes aside…. let us now study the tyre…. Mmmmm…… Yes..!!

YES INDEED….. hur hagh hur…. excuse me!! Hur…har…hur…har…….oh yes and a Hoor har to all youz C**TS..!!

Not sure what happened there but….????

    Cheers, Marc.
