    Honestly I wouldn’t have believed it myself if I hadn’t have seen it,

     

    the castings are terrible cheap really cheap

    paint finish terrible
    pustons rusty

    poor quality components

    brake line brackets rustling

    also a mono block design

    no cooling features whatsoever

    Tbh overall quite poor

    So a small update

    brakes have bedded in nicely great pedal feel progressive good modulation and stop very well indeed.

     

    got lots of things lined up

     

    head has now come off the car this was done for several reasons

    1st

    because I have always wanted to fit a ported head , Mountune refused when I went through the build process with them saying not to do it it’s no good etc not covering any work on the car etc so I went against my better judgement again and didn’t do it.

    2

    I have had a coolant leak which has had me chasing my tail for a few months

    3

    I wanted to health check my engine and carry out clutch change for my new clutch

     

    I sent a head away to be ported by a reputable company inlet exhaust combustion chamber and over size valves +1mm

    Stripped head off my car inspected head and block head all good valves not bad considering mileage and meth only used on high boost, very pleased with results .

    Head gasket intact no blow out tracks

    cyl1 the smallest I mean smallest imperfection at the top of the cylinder wall right in the edge that you could pick up with your nail right in the shamfered bit right at the top at about 3 mm wide maybe less the head had lifted and that’s what pressurised the coolant system didn’t blow the gasket didn’t mark the bore or head or deck surface just extreme luck so we fixed that and moved on

     

    I had a leak on the ptu coolant lines and a leak in the drivers side rad hose and the car wouldnt use any water for weeks as Jane was driving it , I’d get in a give it some and I’d use about a thimble full in high boost .

    car starts and drives perfectly no smoke no steam no missfires

    car performs perfectly

    So next up was engineers straight edge on the deck to check it’s trueness all perfect

     

    then for the interesting bit  a second eye was cast over my head my newly ported head that is

    and the prognosis is as follows …..

     

    the combustion chamber is good person who done it knows what they are doing nice job looked at the exhaust side as I quote …wtf is that nothing has been touched same factory Cast markings a flip over to look at inlet port through valves, the seats need to be cut in better differently or to a different spec , the inlet ports need cleaning up to be made more uniform and the exhaust side needs completely reworking

    in all they said it’s about 80% there just needed the tools to be able to finish it properly

    To add to that they said the valves haven’t been lapped in properly  and the angles on the inlet and exhaust were wrong or backwards hence having to recut

     

    also the head work was only focused on the bits you could see so work on the areas you couldn’t see so well are going to be carried out

     

    very disappointing tbh but happy at the same time in the knowledge that it will be perfect afterward

     

     

    ordered some black titanium exhaust wrap and a turbo blanket

    and stripped my boost pipes so I can re wrap them with funk

    gold tape as the cheap eBay stuff I used was shit
