Some of you may have already seen this on the FocusOC Forum, but thought those who hadn’t might like to have a watch!

Finally got to the Ring and had a go at a decent lap. Unfortunately, it was impossible to get a completely clear lap in (I lost about 6 or so seconds total through Adenau Forst and Metzgefeldt waiting to get past), so the best I managed in the end was an 8min 12sec.

I think with brand new tyres and a totally clear lap, it would be possible to go faster than the Sport Auto lap, but sub 8 would be a real push. Maybe 8min 03 or 02 with perfect conditions?

Car felt good though. Only chink in the armour is the oil temp which is sky high by the end of one hot lap. Really for this kind of car, it’s not that surprising. Everything else lasted well though. Brakes were stil strong after 12 laps, and Cup2s lasted well (although there isn’t much writing left on the sidewalls!). I was running the FPM375 kit, but in all honesty, when comparing side by side with the Sport Auto lap, it makes little to no difference in a straight line once the car’s hot! I guess the limiting factor (like most road cars) is heat management. In the Focus’ case, I think the engine has to protect itself as the oil temp starts to get high.

    Here’s the lap:

You drove a nice line there! Pretty sure you have a lot of rounds there to go like that. Let me know when you are there next time because I am there a lot too and have my RS now since February.

One question, how much boost is your Focus running or does it just look like you are always on 2 bar ? My one is around 1/4 over 1 bar so 1,2 i think roughly but in your movie it looks like 2 bar straight?

I’ve got the FPM375 kit, but it doesn’t make a huge difference to the gauge. You’ll get more than 1.25bar on the gauge if you use high revs and full throttle even with the standard map.

    Hi Mike

Thanks for your reply. My dreamscience should be here with me tomorrow and then I will reflash it. Here in Switzerland I was never on fullgas in the whole RPM limit. The bills are to expensiv if they catch me because the RS is not a slow car 😉 Will check what boost I get, normal and sport mode when I drive around and full gas 2nd gear to 3rd gear there is always somewhere at a 1 and a quarter of boost so somewhere around 1,25bar. Never saw it higher but will have a look then. thanks and keep driving safe&fast

The car has a torque limit in 2nd gear so I suspect that won’t help 😉 And agreed with the roads as I rarely see full boost when driving around normally 😀 Great car on track though. I’m sure the Dreamscience map will make it even better!
