Question about 2017 rs headgasket

Suppose it is possible that an after market gasket was fitted?

The previous owner told me that the car was not in need of an update.

he obviously was wrong or lied.

at this point im fairly certain this is the mustang gasket.pretty bummed out about it.

dealers around here are hard to deal with.

Hi Jordan, I don’t think dealers can turn you away as it’s a FSA field service action and not a recall.

Ford pays for it not the dealer.

Spoke to 2 more dealers today.basically until there is an actual issue with the headgasket they wont do anything.

 

they also said that the recall buliten ended in 2019 for the headgasket but if somthing was to go wrong it would be covered under 100k powertrain anyways.

The one dealer said regardless of tune or mods they will fix whatever is wrong under the 100 k warranty which i thought was solid.

 

long story short…time to make some power with a tune,downpipe,front mount and some smaller stuff.

 

if she blows she blows haha!

But I bet if you asked for that in writing they might change thier mind!!!

Plus if the head gasket hasn’t been changed, there is something wrong presently, so I’d push for gasket to be changed now.

Yah nothing can be done without actually having an issue is what they have all told me.

believe me i was pushy.

Car has 60100 kms on it now.you would think the gasket would have leaked by now.

are the gaskets blowing with a stock tune?or just when you start throwing more boost at them?

i have read lots of info on it now and most guys that are having issues are the ones with tunes.

Hi, just joining the thread,

mine is a January 2017 on a 66 and I have been unsure which gasket I have. Dealer said no recalls due and no mention of the work being carried out.

had a fight with my phone camera in the engine bay today and managed to take the below picture…

is that the brass ring spoken about and does that mean I have the right gasket?

Thank goodness for that. It was worth almost dropping my phone in the engine bay! I’ve had her almost 2 years now and have always been suspicious about the gasket.

might have to plan a little trip to dreamscience later in the year! (Other tuners are available lol)
