Yes have seen her, he needs to spend more time in her company if you get my drift. Its a riveting watch and I do hope he has a successful outcome, the level of work he is attempting is beyond most techs at dealerships its specialised and more so for the gearbox, if it isn’t right that gearbox wont be smooth. Can you imagine how they will sting him if he takes his bag of bits to a gearbox specialist.

Indeed mate!! It’s hard to tell with the time lapse filming but that Engine and G/box went back together pretty bloody quick!! I just hope his Engine Timing is good, didn’t see them turning over the Engine and rechecking Timing etc. which I thought he’d have done for the viewers!! Also, maybe I’m just being nosey, but does he work?? Does he  have a job, money seems no object when you see all the stuff he’s bought to do this job?? Lol!!

And yeah, I catch your DRIFT mate!! Haha!! ????.

    Cheers, Marc.

I’d be getting down on the towels with his bird and leave the gearbox in the garage for matey to sort !  I can see the engine and box being removed again not long after its all been put back, I just don’t have a good feeling about this rebuild ! Fingers crossed its all ok though its a HELL of a lot of work.

Haha!! Yeah I’d like to see a video of his bird getting stripped, doesn’t matter if it’s in the sitting room or the garage!! ?. Haha!!

Aye it’s a hell of a work, been ongoing for a while now but he seems to be taking it in his stride. Hope he gets the G/box fixed and gets it all back together, still got a hell of a work ahead of him!!

I had hoped he was gonna put a big Turbo on it, that was the time to do it!! Don’t think the new Block has a brace on it, did anyone notice??

    Cheers, Marc.

I agree it doesn’t look like a good outcome would have liked to have seen a couple of revolutions of the engine to check everything clears. As for the gearbox we may never know how he rectifies it, but suspect he will get some professional help with that. It all looks a bit chaotic for my liking there several people bolting stuff on and then what appears to be the guy who wants to swear a lot goes missing after he has assembled the G/box.

Perhaps he is waiting for the Haynes manual to arrive.

Oh just remember, you don’t need one ” re-assembly is the opposite of dis-assembly?

May the Ford be with you

Yes it is and was maybe straight forward 40years ago on a Mk1 Escort but the more time that goes by the memory gets a little vague and there was loads to remove all the clips and wiring harnesses there’s no way it will go back anywhere near its original. I wouldn’t want to purchase a car that had been subject to in essence a home DIY job.

Sorry for this but readsome of the comments. This guy is clearly doing more than most of you on here and I am reading piss like would buy a car after someone DIY project. What the actual fuck do you think any mancanic is doing to your car in a garge. Sorry mate go back to your desk and leave  guys that are actually willing to get there hands dirty  and try.  Unlike most of the drama queens on here that just bitch about this and that.

ooh, I’m a bit worried about that mainshaft!! and confused, he said he was taking it to the gbox shop to take the bearing off, but then says he hit it or something himself and it freed off that ‘stuck’ 4th gear?? so did the gearbox shop do nothing and just send him home? The fact that the gear stopped rotating on the shaft with the end bolt done up shows that something is wrong or there is a tolerance out somewhere just a thou” or two. If he has magically unseized it by hitting the end bolt or something, thats worrying!  The gears need to be free spinning on the shaft, MAYBE they are made real tight tolerance and when the gearbox warms up, the shaft lengthens just enough to ease off and let the gear(s) spin  free-er. But, if when it gets hot the gears expand sideways on the shaft, you would expect it all to seize up and be in the same position again where its solid, thats going to break his new syncro rings AGAIN pretty quick ! I think he should have taken that whole shaft apart again and inspected it and checked sizes etc if possible.

That do do do do dog is mad !

Hamster, chill, breathe and relax, just as you are free to put your angry intollerant rants on here, other folk are also free to put their opinions, just because they are not to your liking it does not mean you are justified in insulting them.  I thought you had sold the RS a longtime back and bought a BMW anyway?

Morning mate!! I thought he was looking tired in that last Episode. Must be taken it’s toll now, he’s had a few set backs that’s for sure!! Good on him for stripping the Gearbox in his sitting room, lol, don’t think my wife would be happy with me doing that!! Haha!! Think if he takes a couple of days off to chill and spend some quality time with the lovely D’nice, he’ll be fine. Then a big push at the end to get the Motor back into the car and get her all bolted back up. Slightly worrying about 4th gear, hopefully it was because he over tightened the bolt on the end of the Shaft and just squeezed it all a bit tight, there’s obviously not much room for error in there. Anyway, fingers crossed for him!!

    Cheers, Marc.

Hi Marc, thats the thing, you should be able to crank that end bolt up to torque and still not have the gears ‘squeeze’ together, it should leave a wee bit of endfloat however tight you do it up, you certainly do not want to be adjusting the endfloat by playing around with that bolt tightness! innit !
