    Mike,

I know how to utilise the torque of a diesel but this one is an auto. Makes no difference what mode (Eco / Sport etc) your in.

To be fair with respect to the RS, I ONLY drive it like I stole it as I have a daily so that’s what its for.

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

Oh well, the auto will take the edge off the economy I guess ! I did drive it like I stole it the very moment it got past a 1000  miles or so running it in, then realised that my (clean) driving licence would not stay that way much longer, theres loads of unmarked babylon round here too, I overtook one in the Escort about 6 months ago and luckily he was a car guy and let me off with a chat about ” its nearly 50 years old, you should be taking it easy and not driving like that, its got old brakes and no safety features blah blah blah” I think I could be tempted to do a track day, I would like to do Brands hatch or a proper track, I did a track day in an M3 round abingdon on wide open spaces and poxy little cones trying to mark out bends and found it a total bore so a proper circuit maybe like markcup70 does at goodwood etc to stretch her legs !

Bob !! thats good mate, “drive it like you paid for it in cash full” rather than “drive it like you put down “£2000 deposit and pay £399 a month PCP for it and give it back when its 3 or 4 !)”  innit ! 😎
