Honestly don’t know how folk can drive their loved ones around with defects like this. The mind boggles ?

    Elliot.

Did you hear of the guy on the other focus forum with the mk 3 RS that failed its MOT at Trust Ford Huddersfield because the tester deemed the exhaust was too loud. The exhaust was a Mountune Ford approved one, fitted at a Ford dealership I believe.

Apparently any mods to the car that make it louder than when it left the factory are MOT failures… Really?

There is a advisory option for ‘exhaust noisy’, which I use unless it is a totally crackers system. I mentioned in another thread that I have a remotely operated valve which cuts the noise considerably. Due to EU directives the current mot scheme is a total fook up atm, looking forward to getting out of it.

Maybe the best solution would be not to use a main dealer that sells your car? It would be quite difficult to compare and justify how it failed then??

I think when I was an MOT tester it was worded along the lines of ” no major gas leaks and exhaust working efficiently” i.e reducing noise !

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

Should be an instant fail if Daisy is missing from the General Lee. no ifs or buts……..

Great to see an enthusiast with a brilliant replica, hope the road test was mandatory for you Elliot.

May the Ford be with you

def road test required! We used to say that our rolling road brake tester was faulty but “luckily we have a tapley meter for 4x4s sir, so we shall just spin your car up the road and do a brake test with the tapley”  whenever there was something really interesting come in for a MOT and we desperately fancied a drive !!

Oh yes, a road test with the tapley was carried out. The guy met Catherine Bach at a show some time ago and had her sign the underside of the trunk panel and jas a photo of her in the General Lee.

He’s having 1st test on his latest Mustang nex week, never driven one so another test drive ?
