Now that my Focus is five years old I needed a new toy. For many reasons I chose a second hand Tesla model 3performance. One reason was for day trips including central London. Here are some facts from the last trip for anyone still confused over the Electic Future!
Sat Eve I decided on a trip next day. Open the App and set the charge to be 100% for 8 am Sunday.
Sunday I drove for 187m total visiting three places. I did mixed driving for a total of 4 hrs 10 mins. Over half motorway. I arrived home with 23% battery left. The recharge cost about £14.
no charges to pay for central London siteseeing.
    I loved it.
ok fire away with the comments?

Did you miss the smell of V-Power😀

Seriously that’s a good result we are going to have to get use to, just arguing over the timescale for individuals now.

May the Ford be with you

How are the pops and bangs on the Tesla?

In all seriousness the only way I would buy one is if I lived in a city centre and had a small commute. Whats the expected shelf life on the batteries these days?

open the app? whats a focking APP??  I open the door and put the key in and drive, like a MAN !! 😎  well, my little Fiesta 1.4tdci daily smoker has averaged 61.8mpg since new in 2009, it gets 63mpg every week in mainly town driving, and IF I ever go on a long trip up motorway it can get me 70mpg if kept to 65/70mph like an old fart, so to me thats what?  £5.90 a gallon? 63mpg so about 9p per mile your trip would have cost me a couple of pound more, maybe £16/£17.  Its depreciated down to about £3750 from £12000 in 12 years so £650 a year depreciation and £20 a year road tax,  lets see what Teslas are worth in 12 years and how much is a battery pack? and how long does one last? and how long does one maintain its full range capability? and how many batteries will a 12 year old Tesla have had in its life?  By the time electric cars are forced on us I will be out of the country for good on  a little Greek island buzzing about on an old WW2 Willys jeep with my Escort in the garage , with no thoughts of Englandistan or Londonistan or all the shite here  so definitely no battery power for moi Danke Schon.

Ive just cancelled my long range model 3 order…. real impressive car and fun. But my accountant reminding me that all my diesel costs go through work, so spending £600/ month to save £300…. didn’t work, even though the benefit in kind is only £8/ month…. Mrs really not happy i cancelled it 😂

looked at buying a performance outright 2019 plate, but not sure id want to own it……..

Tone the noise is quite strange when you’re really on it tho…..We had both for a Sunday… Long range would piss on the RS, performance another level… Not sure about the wood dash tho 😊

Yeah, ive had a Skoda Enyaq as a daily for the last 6 weeks or so and it is awesome as a daily.

Just did a 950 mile round trip to Cornwall getting about 250 miles at 77mph.

Around town Im getting closer to 280 miles.

So easy to live with – just get in, (No need for start button even) put in Drive and push accelerator (No need to let hand brake off), no noise to wake the neighbours up at 06:00, just point and shoot.

It doesn’t replace the RS for fun/handling (You know your sat on over 2 tons) but it makes for the perfect daily. Having free electric at work also helps but I never paid more than £20 on the long trip for a full battery to take me 250 – 280 miles – Bargain.

But Dave, its still a “Shkoda” !! Everyone is being moulded by enviromentalists and the Government, they are forcing us to obey and assimilate. I cannot see electric cars for all being sustainable for very long, I do not see a long life for them before the people in charge decide we should all be driving something else, like a horse and cart or something..

I can imagine to where all this is going to lead. First it’s electric, then autonomous, then collectivist, then this:

I am a proud baby boomer. I am out of that crap and will be star dust again before it hits me. Leave this to the woke millennials snowflakes 😎

Frenk, thats exactly it, place will be full of mindless zombies, I would not call it progress ! We have twats stopping the traffic on the M25 etc worrying about a bit of house insulation and theres China spewing out more crap in an hour than like the Uk does in a week or something ! No ones mentions a great big angry volcano ( which I was standing in two years ago!!)  chucking out crap. Wheres the anti-volcano demonstrators??  Hows the car going anyway? have we cured the 4000rpm wot issue? hows refuelling/restarting going??

    Hi there Mike!

The barking head-banging WOT cough is gone. The Revo 1 map delivers plenty of urge consistently, up to the RS sign flashing and forces a big smile on my face. The second blanking plate prevents the gulp of water reliably. It’s a plain joy of driving 😀

The refuelling project is still a work in progress. I’ll keep you posted.

When it is choice between an electric car and the bus then i will have no choice, but as long as i can use good old fossil fuels i will. Not all of us agree with the narrative that the tree huggers are pushing. Like 71-bda stated china are the real villains of the peace and until the world pulls them and India in to line, nothing we do will make any real difference. If anyone knows different i am always willing to be educated.

I still believe we will be using fossil fuel for years yet. Lets wait and see what the range is like for battery cars in the winter time and when they’re a few years old.

They reckon as much as 30% less in winter.

Its when we start getting power outages and rations ill get worried.

I heard just recently that the government are looking at extending plug in Hybrids until 2035 due to some british manufacturers saying 2030 to elec only is impossible and will hurt those companies.

Fuel will be available well into the 2040’s at which point ill be on a zimmer so not bovered, innit!!.

Talking about the future: everyone carries a personal crystal ball nowadays. And everyone thinks he’s an expert on anything. There are some good prophecies from time to time, though, in hindsight. This one here seems to be spot on:

Keep on rocking guys 😎 🤘
