    Hey people,

I have a question (not RS related), my missus bought a 13 plate fiesta back in Sep 17 and purchased the extra warranty for piece of mind. The other day I flicked through it as the front end lets out an almighty creaking sound going over bumps, anyway, reading the ‘what is not covered’ section I finally finished thinking……what exactly IS covered on this extra warranty, it virtually mentioned every nut, bolt, panel and switch.

Is there anyone in the know that could shed some light on this and if I can cancel and even get remaining monies back if it’s not fit for purpose?

    Thanks

warranties normally only cover things if they break ! ( not much actually breaks on todays cars though) if they wear out etc then they just say its normal wear and tear and is a service item. So a used car warranty is not worth much more than the paper its written on.

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

just check at dealers place and let them have a watch. most things like dampers, brakes and all “have to be used” parts are out of warranty due to wear out by driving. but if a damper or a brake fails seriously to early they may replace it under warranty. always move car in and friendly ask. the worst thing they can do is say “no” … otherwise you will never know.  😉

My experience of used warranties isn’t good at all. I know it’s a cliché, but they really aren’t worth the paper they’re written on.

I had a difficult time with Warranty Wise, the mob that is endorsed by Quentin Wilson, and they were abysmal. My 2p worth.

There are some good and some bad warranties and warranty companies.

I’ve had the good experience where I had a tiptronic gearbox fail on a grey import with a third party used car warranty.  I wrote on the claim that it failed catastrophically all of a sudden with no warning signs apparent before-hand and ended up with a new gearbox fitted at no cost to myself.

Clearly, you need to be a bit wise on what warranty to choose, if any, and then how you claim for any failure.

The failure of a damper/shock absorber, for instance, on a 4 year old car – this isn’t an expected failure, and really to be fair is a premature failure.  Everyone knows it to be premature, but also that it probably wouldn’t be covered by *any* warranty.  At 4 years, it’s a slightly grey area, but I wouldn’t expect any joy from a warranty.  This, my friends, is the cost of motoring…  things can break…

    Warranties direct are good.

Paid me out thousands with no issues.

I will be looking to cover the RS when the Ford one expires.
