    Hi all,

Here is hopefully the last ride I have for a LONG time.  (or until my funds recover…LOL)… 😉

Have had Ford’s most of my life.  The last being a 2010 LV Focus XR5, (ST225 as you guys know it as), modded and a very fun and reliable little rocket with just over 200kw at the front wheels.

However the old XR5/ST was feeling a little out dated and I really love the look of the MK3, the fact that it is AWD, more modern interior, 4 drive modes, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Refinance and a little $$ saved up, I thought bugga it, lets take the plunge.  Ordered it in October 2015, originally ordered “Shadow Black” and was going to name it “Ford Vader”, however saw the Magnetic FiST’s and Mustang’s in ‘Magnetic’ and changed my order.  So happy with the colour choice!

I took delivery on the 30th June 2016.

Only mod is that there is a K&N filter in place of the paper filter.  Will how ever be getting some Mountune gear on her in hopefully the not too distant future.  1st being the FPM375 kit.

So….. Here she is: “Zelda” – German for “Grey Warrior”. 🙂

Cruisin about up around Beechmont – SEQ Hinterland.

Taken at ‘The Barn & Scotty’s Garage’, Flagstone Creek Rd, Upper Flagstone QLD

Pic taken with Chaz Mostert – V8SC Driver @ Pacific Ford – Maroochydore, SEQ (I’m the fat one on the left obviously, haha). 🙂

Chaz Mostert and I at Pacific Ford All Ford Day - QLD Sunshine Coast

    Thanks,

As you can see, Don’t check this site often….

We here in Australia only get two options, Forged rims with the CUP2 tyres or the standard 19″ rims (Non Shadow Chrome only), with the Pilot Super Sports (What I chose).  I would have liked getting the shadow chrome rims if it was an option.  If anything I wish I had the chance of ordering the standard seats, we just get the MK2 Recaro’s.  Not the best for stocky fellas such as myself and as it’s a daily driver, yeah, not the best.

Goldie hey? Awesome.  Hope it’s everything you hoped for.  Honestly, being a V4 block and not a V5, I have lost the love for the car and wish I had of waited past August 2016 build, waiting for it to go bang basically.  It’s an April 14th 2016 build and puts me inline with the ones that basically could have had one of those dodge blocks that were not forged at a high enough temperature.  That and from the non-existence of lemon laws here in Australia?  Hmm, good luck having an easy warranty claim here with FoMoCo.  Why mine, much to my disgust as I wanted to go 400hp+, is staying stock until warranty is up.

Should look up this site if you haven’t already on FB: https://www.facebook.com/groups/QLDMk3FocusRSOwners/

Window tint?  Only one person I’ll go to.  Byron Koplick.  Runs “Tint-A-Car, Milton”.

@ Wayne Griffin  I would not lose any sleep over having a V4 block, there are LOADS that have clocked up high mileages now, they don’t ALL crack. People are also having issues with the V5, (although that may be just headgaskets and not cracked blocks) I have seen a company in the U.S that reinforces the weak spots ( welds up on outside of block ) so If I was going to go for big power, I would take the motor out, have that mod done for starters, have the closed block mod done, and go all forged bottom end, then it should be safe for life to 500bhp and a bit. Do it just the once properly and happy days. Folk are now getting 350bhp out of the 1.6 Ecoboost  at 2 bar boost quite easily and reliably now, 218 bhp/litre, so would hope that equates nicely to a 500bhp 2.3 !

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

    @bda

this isn’t a dig or anything I’m aware of the linears being welded to the block for strength, what’s the external mod about what do they weld up and where just interested  ??

    cheers

    🙂

Ive seen alloy welding added to the weak areas externally, around and just below where the head studs/bolts kind of little ‘bosses’ are on the turbo side of the block.
