    Morning guys,

    its just a quick question really. In order to try and help with my veering steering ive booked in to have the wheel alignment done as ive already had pdc turned off which did help about 70% of the issue. Has anyone had there alignment checked and found it to be quite abit out? Im yet to see a car come from the factory with the proper measurements so im hoping this should help to fix the issue. My car has done around 4500 miles.

    there has been a few posts about wheel alignment and yeah some were found to be out its always worth a check

    think it was on the focus rs forum last year about the steering . there is pages on every rs forum about the steering though every little help towards the issue.

    Are you still using cup 2 tires? I’m finding them incredibly unruly.

    i have had 2 alignments since getting the rs brand new 11k miles revolution gateshead charged me £30 said the front was out when i got the paperwork one square was red out by 0.02, 3 months later took to kwik fit charged £80 and i still can not see any difference in the steering my rs pulls to the right quite bad randomly even when doing a steady 40mph

    Mainly i think it ,s the front tyres,Ive had PDC turned off and 4 wheel alignment done but on certain roads it pulls to the right other roads it goes straight as a die,The Michelin pilot supersports tramline badly whereas people have said the Michelin PS4 are better.Mine still have 6mm on them so not changing till they are barry bald.

    So are we saying part of the veering steering is tyre related?

    Its booked in on the 26th at the place i know does the job best, i’ll report back when i have the original readings, i’m hoping the alignment makes a difference. My car is running the factory super sports at the moment. I do find it’s hit and miss even on the same test road i use. PDC being turned off has helped but in the wet it still veers like PDC hadn’t been turned off. I can feel the power being transferred to the rear but its not that. I had a 410bhp evo 9 that would torque steer at times and iv’e got a DC5 also which does it in the dry easily so i can tell the difference. I have also had many vag haldex cars which never had this issue.

    UPDATE:

    So i went to Evans Halshaw yesterday morning and it turns out that the PDC had not been turned off by Trustford Wilmslow as well as the other things i requested to be turned off, thanks to BDA for suggesting having it turned off at another dealer. They had not turned it off at all and had charged me for the privilege of wasting my time. I wont be going there again or recommending them.

    I went down both test routes and there is torque steer but i have a litchfield stage 1 map/ exhasut/intake so anyone with a standard car may not get this but it has completley cured the veering steering issue. I also went and had the alignment checked and the only thing that were really out but still in tolerence was the rear toe and camber. The toe was corrected and apparently the rear camber is not really adjustable in standard form and its not recommended to adjust it (i saw the mesage on the geo computer screen too). The car drives perfectly now though so thank you for the advice from everyone.

    Morning mate!! Can’t believe that garage told you that they’d turned off PDC when clearly they hadn’t!! AND they charged you for it!! Surely if they were struggling or couldn’t find how to do it they should’ve just said so?? I really find that quite shocking that they’d blatantly lie to a paying customer!! Are you gonna take any further action regarding this??

    Anyway, all sorted now. It feels much better eh!! Enjoy mate!!

    Nice ! glad I put my chin out there and suggested that it had not been switched off in the first place! Happy days steering naturally now Cam !!



    No nothing.

    No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

    Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Its really bad that they claimed to have done it when they hadnt. As you said they could of said they were struggling to find it and i could of given the information i had been given off here. I went into evans halshaw and never mentioned it being in previously and i was never questioned if it had been turned off before or anything. Its clear it had not been when i went and tested it multiple times. I could take it further be again they would find some argument to say it was etc wont they. I was going to take it further when BDA mentioned it if it was true but now im glad it drives alot better and in future wont be using that dealer. Also had FENG turned off and it really sounds better with the milltek non res cat back!

    Recently caught a kerb with the near side rear tyre, taking the side wall out.

    This meant I needed a wheel repair and a new tyre, as the fronts were less than 3mm and i didn’t want uneven wear on the rear, I’ve purchased 4x Michelin PS4s tyres.

    What a difference!!  Torque steer and road noise has been massively reduced.  I would highly recommend these tyres over the Cup 2’s.

    Both Dry and Wet grip is also excellent too. Although, that is probably down to them being brand new and being compared to the worn old ones.
