    If anyone has the above security devices and uses the “smart” features you my want to take a look at this video on the BBC page

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/technology-47485733/how-a-car-can-be-hijacked-via-its-smart-alarm

    Technology is great when used positively, however it can be used against anyone by unscrupulous people. Not a good advert for the three car alarm makers.

    Its been aired again just and all three companies have fixed the issue. The one thing I take from this is you probably wont see your pride and joy again if it was targeted in this or a similar way. So just insurance company to argue with regarding value.

    @coastliner ~ layered security…

    In this event, the communication unit is still live (can be tracked) so recovery is possible. In addition, ‘remote immobilisation’ is possible by contacting the communication unit. Thereby, returning the thieves work. Until they strip it out!

    In addition, the Police, albeit unlikely, could request ‘remote immobilisation’ from another source of layered security which is independent of the OEM alarm and 3rd party alarm. Again, until they strip it out!
