Can any1 recommend a dash cam?

I have the Blackvue dr650s-2ch waiting to go in my car. Got a discount code on another forum. Certainly not a cheap unit but gets good reviews and the bits of testing I did with it temporarily mounted in my current car look pretty good. AS my car shipped from the factory today I should be able to give you a full write-up in a month or so.

If I remember correctly, the camera was about £300 and then the fitting is about £140 (It is 2 cameras for front and back so quite a lot of work)

I’m fully expecting some t*** to key my car, that’s why I bought it in white 🙂

I have transcend ones currently in our work vans. They work well and have had 2 incidents now where some one has hit my wing mirrors and the picture has been so spot on that they have both paid up. The ones that stand up as evidence have to have gps and do speed and location. The ones I have do both. Good picture and can connect via an app if you want to view footage with out pulling the sd card. Also has a park mode so at night or any other time it will activate it some thing moves in front of it. Nice and small, had a guy install them so come on with ignition etc. Cost me £160 supplied and fitted. Down side it records sound to so my one has a few clips of me using some bad language when my wing mirrors were taken off but then again I am sure we would all swear! Not sure what model they are think 520 springs to mind they are both about a year old now so might be better ones out but these work well for me. Just my view thats all

@Franco I can’t confess to being an expert with the law and my knowledge is only based on what I have read and what was explained to me by who supplied and installed my camera. Common sense applies when installing so it does not obstruct the view or become a distraction. From what I understand the law if you want to use it as evidence i.e. you have an accident and are being accused of speeding etc they need to have gps to show speed and location. The one I have shows the video with a live street map and the actual speed so if your only doing say 20mph you can prove it. Plus it has sound. If a camera doesn’t do speed or location it cannot be used in court. As for privacy I don’t know much about that I know thing differ through Europe massively thats just down to a world full or stupid politicians that cannot be consistent with any thing making absurd rules 🙂
