Best Type Approved/Road Legal Aftermarket Exhaust?

Hi all,

Considering an aftermarket exhaust system (cat back) but want to make sure I stay within the law. What would the best Type Approved exhaust system be?

Just want to attract as little attention from the BiB as possible.

My money looking at your list of mods to date is you will end up with mountune v3 🙂 be a good choice. Not the loudest or deepest sound but enough to know not standard exhaust and quietish no drone when you just want to be “normal” mode

Ford approved and awesome sounding The Remus Exhaust, this replaced the Mountune V3

RS Edition.

FPM375 Rocks

Another strong vote here for the Remus. I’ve got the original Remus fitted to my Edition. Absolutely incredible sound and perfectly compliments FPM375.

There’s a video on YouTube that compares them all. Will try to find it later. Personally went for a Miltek. Quiet in the car, noisy outside. Good build quality.

Collins Cp2 map. Ramair induction. Mountune mud flaps. Scorpion Sports Cat. Scorpion Tracker. Wind deflectors. NB washer jets and shark fin aerial. EBC Grooved discs, YellowStuff pads. Airtec Intercooler, Miltek cat back with titanium tips. Collins quickshift. DSC Controller

I also went Miltek resonated sounds good and approved. Also I have FPM375.

If it’s any louder than OEM, its technically illegal and it seems many MOT centres are failing people for it.

I’d like the Performance Ford Remus myself and will do when the time is right regardless of the law.

When I bought mine the previous owner had put a Milltek non-res on it… which I found quite boomy, so bought the resonated section and fitted that.

Never managed to get to hear anything other than a standard car!

Nitrous Blue FPM375, Milltek, DSC & TracTive, lots of Mountune bits

I went with Mountune V3 as I was not aware there was another Ford warranty approved system at the time tbh ie Remus which I do like but I’m certainly not disappointed with the V3 and need to keep my Ford extended warranty in tact. Sits nicely with the other Mountune warranty friendly mods I have, FPM375 and Full Charge Pipe Kit.

If your worried about mot just install a valve controller and keep it closed when they are testing it. Nice and quiet then

Good point. I always wondered how a Ford dealership could possibly fail a Ford warranty friendly approved say V3 or Remus exhaust due to it being too loud? They wouldn’t dare would they?

Dickhead testers unfortunately. There is a advisory re slightly noisy which I have used occasionally. Common sense should prevail but seems to be in short supply. The mot service will be privatised so look forward to your Halfords ten quid tests. Glad I’m out of it after 40 years..
