How much is the kit?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but do we now have some more results to add to this thread?

I’m wondering how much gain the K&N drop in panel filter alone makes as its such a cheap mod.

@o1turbo30v I have just dropped in a K&N panel filter, and yes there is a significant sound change from the induction system, but there is a noticeable performance increase, inperticularly the ease it revs now compared to standard.

I doubt the performance increase of 30-odd HP given by K&N would ever be achieved but I would there is a minimal increase in engine output after fitting the drop in filter.

I would also say cold start noise is roughly the same, the only time the noise increase happens is at low revs running up the rev range.

I personally feel a difference as the noise isn’t really that different over the standard system (potentially because I have left my sound deadening in place), but I am tempted to do some dyno runs in the near future, mainly because I want a base level confirming before the mods get fitted and secondly because I was to see proof of each mod and the percentage of difference it makes.

But just from daily driving I can feel a difference from only the drop in filter over the standard one.

One that I will be doing, just to see how much difference there is (if any at all) is doing a standard dyno run with and without the intercooler blanking plate fitted.

I was commenting on this thread trying to find other induction systems that have been tested on the dyno so I could see other comparisons before I move forwards.

@yorkis I’m fairly sure the ambient temps and altitude of the test rig is all logged on the dyno sheet.

If not I will add them in, as for gain and responsiveness, I have been swapping the standard and K&N filter in and out to see if there is a difference in the same circumstances (as it only takes 2 mins to swap over its an easy comparison) and there is a difference to be felt and seen.

I drove the same roads at the same speeds on the same day and temps and the pulls with the K&N fitted were much more responsive and the engine revved so much more freely compared to when the standard item was fitted, so its noticeable in the scenarios I have put the car in but I will get it on paper soon enough to show back to back read outs.
