such a shame this one has been modified as it would seem just right for me especially in mint condition and reasonably priced as well.

Most the standard cars for sale probably weren’t before selling as always used mods for sale. At least you would know what’s been messed with buying a modified one.

    Would you rather:

    A) buy a car that appears to be standard and have no idea on the history

    B) Buy one that has been subtily modified including the paperwork and history to prove it?

    I know my preferred option

there’s just too many red flags that in the event of a major issue which may be linked to unwarranted upgrades I would have no comeback from a private sale. Obviously, with a dealer my rights are far greater.

Sadly most used car dealer warranty’s don’t cover anything anyway once you try using them.
Ford happily did the head gasket with the mods on the car.

But at the end of of day it’s your money so your choice and wish you all the best in your search.

And if you can get the car on a ramp so you can check the head gasket for oil leaks, sadly very common on these and Ford are not sorting them easily.

I can understand both points of view on this thread and one of the main reasons I try if possible to buy my cars new, but history is key and if you can track what has been done why and when it’s a good starting point for a used purchase. My car has had the HG done twice but they only gave me an invoice and detail of the work on the second procedure.

it is rather bizarre that with the seller being as honest as to the history of the car which is highly commendable, I could never argue with ford if there was a problem that I was unaware as to the modifications and consequently, Ford would argue, I brought the car with my eyes open and aware of any downside.

I’m not suggesting that for one moment that there will be an issue its just that some people have a passion for modifications but I’m not one of them.

Their aren’t many left with remaining Ford Extended warranty.
Most the after market warranties are not that great
