    Hello again all,

i swear this car hates me. I am trying to sell and it develops a noise from the front OS wheel area now.

on partial to full lock left the area of the drivers wheel creaks. It doesn’t do it on full or partial lock right. When going straight there is a click /tick (no creak) when coming to a halt. Not at speed so say less than 15mph. any ideas?

    cheers

If it’s nothing to do with the brakes, then it needs a ramp? To check while the system is under load.
I personally would jack up the offside wheel and check for noise. No load tho.
Only replying to save  another bump.

why not sell on Motorway? The div who turns up to collect won’t notice it. Too busy measuring the tread depth🙄😂🥸

It’s been in to the garage and the advice was to wait till it’s worse to properly diagnose. They think it’s a driveshaft but can’t be sure. They had it on the ramp for a while but couldn’t recreate the noise without driving it.

i certainly am tempted. I checked and m’way said circa 16-17k. Think that’s the way I’m going to go and just cut my losses.

Off topic but to answer the above as i think it’s worth commenting. Personally I have actually found it hard to get a garage to take it even as a part ex. I don’t see it as them trying to rip me off.

Bear in mind my car is probably high mileage for one of these at 83k. But asides that and it’s continuing mechanical issues which don’t factor. What i mean by that is that it’s not a “dog” visually and very clean.

The interactions I’ve had around selling. Have simply been part ex offers against cars I’m interested in owning next. They aren’t aware of my personal maligned history with the car. Beyond the miles. As said, it’s a very well kept, clean car. Just no one wants to buy one.

When the advert was live I had zero interest from either autotrader or eBay private seller wise.

Take from all that what you will.

I understand however what I don’t understand is why you seem so surprised you’re having difficulty selling the RS when it has 83k miles on the clock and presumably multiple owners?

Still pretty looking but well used then.
now if it was on a dating site, would that make a difference?

To answer your question. 2 previous owners. I’m 3rd. Full dealer history and services every 3-5 k in my ownership and in every 10k prior to my ownership. Full book pack. 2keys blah blah.

So yes I guess im a little surprised that at an avg 10k miles per year and very clean, that I can’t part ex the car at a value of 14k.

i guess I’m going to be in the minority here on this forum as most are going to be investment pieces or rarely driven whereas I use my car all the time.

But I still think a 16 plate car with it’s spec and full history should be worth more than 14k if not wow and I’m very sorry I bought it for yet another reason lol

to get back on topic I got bored of it breaking and as I don’t know what’s wrong and don’t want a wheel falling off . I’ve taken it off the road and gone out and bought another car. So I’ll take my time fixing it and then sell it for as much as I can a month or two down the line.

I agree it should be worth high teens suggesting £17-£18k if its clean. Maybe an RS with over 80000 miles will have issues as its well into its life cycle.
