Hi all, I’m having trouble with my laptop recognising the imap unit, when I got the RS last week, it came with a imap device but it didnt have the usb cable , I’ve used a spare cable that’s used to charge my workshop led lamp. Is the original cable that comes with it specific to the units that’s why the laptop wont recognises the device?

Michael,

I don’t have any experience with imap but some USB cables are only designed to carry power and not data.

Maybe try the cable in a phone/PC connection to see if that’s the case.

I’m guessing a lamp cable is probably power only.

Hi @stu-c that’s what I was thinking but wasnt 100% I’ll hunt for a phone usb cable if not I’ll contact dreamscience.

sorted, i’ve used a phone charger cable. on the device it has ultima map, how do you get other maps? i.e ultima 2+. I want to get the v3 overrun map.

@michael wright the maps should all be on there, just update the handset for U3..

make sure you follow the instruction book tho, and return car to stock before updating the handset ?

@gm ah, I’m doing it wrong then, I don’t have a manual for the imap device. I’ve just updated it without returning to stock. i’ll have a look Monday when I’m back at work. i’ll update it properly then buy the v3 overrun map.

I’ve been having similar issues and after digging an old Nokia phone lead out of my tech leftover drawer and using that everything has now connected, recognised and updated.
