why do you need one? 7 years with std dampers as Ford supplied and I have zero issue with ride quality. Today we went out in the RS for a change , to have a look at the facelifted Gr Yaris. While driving along in the RS I said to the Mrs ( she doesnt get to go out much in theRS as its a bit of a garage queen) “so what do you prefer the ride of, the Fiesta ST, the Yaris or this Focus?”  her answer.. ” this, its more comfortable than the tinny bouncy Yaris, and its softer than the Fiesta” I had to agree! I do run my tyres about 2psi softer than spec and I tend to always have half /to full tank of squirt. The ride and handling balance to me is perfect.

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

    Yeah it’s really a phenomena.
everyone who spends money on aftermarket gear finds that it is fantastic.
strange that. Spend lots then it has to be good.
marketing tactic is to label it an upgrade.

well yes Ford components def could be improved.
but do we really think that money was saved by Ford fitting mismatched parts, or springs that were too hard?
no, the car was designed by experts and the aftermarket is swamped with charlatans with no real technical results.
here in the link we had Chnky stating that the ride is overdamped as standard yet it is clearly the opposite. Why read the rest of his opinion, it’s all rubbish.

this DSc is very clever. Yes the ride is more comfortable. More compliant. Yet unpredictable in that the driver can never trust the suspension to act in a simple way. If you are ok with software changing the suspension as you drive then that’s fine. Maybe you bought the wrong car?
    bloody poseurs.

Well Ford certainly f#cked it up with the HG issue (3 August 2015 to 6 July 2017) that was definitely a mis-matched part, which does prove that Ford may not be quite the ‘experts’.

My 10pence worth on “The Experts”

The car was designed by experts, did these experts sub contract out the engine specifications on rods, pistons and which locktite to use to stop the balance shaft coming loose and falling into the rotating mass or the PTU/RDU over heating on track in less time than it takes to boil a kettle. Well they did a fine job.

So yes spending £2k on Upgraded parts such as rods and pistons won’t do anything apart from not fail you won’t even realise this but you dropped £2k on a part you’ll never hopefully see again.

The DSC box is infinitely tuneable in 3 different modes and is truly predictable in the same manner as the factory box it just adds more to the available damper system. Eliminating body roll in the corners stopping all that body weight sitting on the outside tyres trying to help push you off the road reduced rear squat on acceleration or reduced nose dive on braking giving you as a driver more control.

If I new how good the DSC box made the 2017 car and again made a 2018 even better due to “The Expert” changing the damper valve setup.
The 2017 car with H&R springs and anti-rollbars was a hoot to drive and if I knew how good the package actually was I may not have gone full Tractive on the 2018 car but the Tractive kit was ordered and deposit paid which when it arrived it put the 2018 car into a whole new level of handling ability.

If you do get a DSC box you seriously won’t regret it and if you do; don’t get the KW DDC v3 setup and DSC as it’s no better than the dampers on 2016/17 cars with the DSC, but not as good as a 2018 car running a DSC factory dampers and either H&R (linear firmer) or Eibach (progressive softer) springs

My 2-cents, I have a MY18 and the pogo is not noticeable.

But…… the roads in San Diego sucks egg bad. San Francisco even worst.

After 4 years of owning my RS, I installed a DSC controller and it made the ride quality livable.
