As a rough guide Ford’s recommend anywhere between 20/40k miles or around 3/4th service. But if the vehicle has not done any where near the mileage it could go to 5th service.

    I read from another forum:

    From the manual :

    FUEL FILTER

Your vehicle is equipped with a lifetime fuel filter that is integrated with the fuel tank. Regular maintenance or replacement is not needed.

I thought though our filters were external.

I to want to do this now as my car is on 50k. I spoke to my local Ford parts place and they said there’s no mention of filter changes on any service schedules. So the question is am I wasting my time and money doing it or will there be any benefits to changing it?

I have changed one on another vehicle other than the RS, I think they all are very similar it’s like a plastic clip on both ends you depress the tab and pull the pipe off it is like an o ring connection that the pipe clicks onto. Not a difficult job.

I’ve changed fuel filter on focus diesel in the past – they used to need changing as i had engine warning light come on and this was due to blocked fuel filter , I have fiesta 1ltr with 125,000 miles on clock on original fuel filter and no issues

I’ve just ordered one I’m going to just change it anyway. It didn’t cost much and takes five minutes to do. I’ll cut the old one open and let you all know what’s inside
