Ghost query

Hi Everyone,

Just picked up my new RS Blue Edition last Saturday. Loving it so far.

As I am paranoid about it being stolen (I had two Escort RS Turbos nicked back in the early 90s) I had a Tracker and a Ghost fitted as soon as I could on the Sunday by a local firm. I had read a lot about the Ghost beforehand on here and seen various YouTube videos of it being demonstrated in a MK3 RS.

I was therefore surprised when the installer said I could only use certain buttons.

Another thing that is different to what I have read/seen is that the indication signal is the indicator lights rather than the expected engine management light, again, not sure if this indicates a problem or not?

And when you try to start the car without entering the PIN, the dash goes crazy, and even the headlights flash briefly (almost strobe like). Not what I was expecting at all.

Does anyone else’s Ghost behave the same?   Or does this indicate either an installation problem, or perhaps an incorrect software version?

Happy with the Tracker, but a little worried that the Ghost isn’t right.

No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

Ring your installer or as you say you read up on here, why didn’t you use this clubs discount on fitment and have full tech support their after.

Chris changed the pin indication light from the engine management light to the indicator lights as some people were running maps that would leave the engine management light on all the time. Using the indicator lights allows people to understand whether the code has been accepted. The last thing is the behaviour after putting the incorrect pin in, this sounds like old software as mine used to do that – strobing headlights and rattling the needles of the auxiliary gauges etc. Give him a ring or drop him an email, he’s extremely helpful.

My edition uses the EML light,was having messages on dash due to pressing clutch before start button,don,t press anything until code entered.

Mine flashes the indicator light when The system disarms itself, if I try to start without putting the code in mine goes crazy on the dash to, haven’t noticed if lights flash, needles flicker a lot, it resets everything in the cluster (miles, mpg etc) and resets clock on the stereo system and puts it back to day mode! Pain in arse but it’s there doing it’s job and I’ve never had a problem with it, Best bit of security (plus disklock) you can put on your pride and joy

Don,t think it should do any of that Eml flashes and press start after code entered,no reseting clock or gauges -check with your installer.
