    I bought a mishimoto intercooler in August still in its box, I got it out earlier to realise the end pipe is damaged , can someone more savvy than me tell me if this will be okay to use ?

    I have emailed the company to see what they say

    Evening mate, just having a look at your photos there, that’s unfortunate pal!! I’m amazed you waited that long to take it out it’s box?? Lol.

    I don’t think that dent alone is an issue, as long as it’s sound around the rest of the pipe where the hose will seal on it!! It’s hard to see from photos, but is it just a dent at the end of the pipe and there’s no other damage?? ie. at any of the welded sections or inside that pipe section??

    Cheers, Marc.

    Hi Marc

    Yes it’s just on the end probably about 1cm in from the end the rest is fine ,

    I did take it out when i got it but never spotted that !!

    Was hoping it would.be okay as.its a hassle to send it back ,although I will wait to see what they say

    Morning mate, yeah ideally they’ll change it for you but I understand it’ll be a hassle!! I’m sure it could be sorted easily (by an engineering shop ideally as you don’t want to crack it), but I’m sure it’s useable as is!! Out of interest did you get it with a logo on it and if so was it the “M” logo or “Mishimoto” logo??

    Cheers, Marc.

    give it a gentle little warm up with a soft flame on a blow torch and gently knock it back into shape, maybe with the ball end of a ball pein hammer or a bit of soft wood used as a drift.

    No nothing.

    No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

    Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

    Yeah that’s right, squared up many an Exhaust using a cone-shaped tool like this…

    Just make sure the Intercooler is well supported and no further damage will occur!!

    Cheers, Marc.

    Any half decent body shop or exhaust fitter should have this tool if you don’t feel confident in doing it yourself.

    If your not used to using a brazing touch or applying (flame) heat, my advice is don’t.

    As Brembo said if it seals fine their shouldn’t be an issue.

    RS Edition.

    The rest of the “M” maps suck

    I’d just get it put back into shape – it isn’t a visible part and the seal on the silicon joiner will seal just fine.

    Although it would be OK to fit like that, personally, I wouldn’t because it will create an unwanted disturbance in the pipe flow.  Pipes are restrictive enough without having a distortion in them.

    @rampant

    Yeah that’s a good point Mark H!! Whether it’s on the Inlet or Discharge side it’s still going to upset the airflow which isn’t ideal, especially when we spend 100’s of £’s on uprated Intercoolers and hoses (as I’ve done myself) to optimise airflow!!

    Every little bit counts!! Lol!!

    @robroy

    See what Mishimoto say about replacing it or get it squared up mate!!

    Cheers, Marc.
