Another thought, it could be a sensor connection. Had a similar issue on my Cosworth which was a bad connection into the ECU.

I have had exactly the same thing, has only ever done it once. A member on here read about the same issue a guy had on another forum, that the symptoms experienced could be down to a poorly performing wastegate solenoid which Ford confirmed and changed under warranty. If it happens again take it in to the dealer.

It’s called an overboost fault that caused the car to go into limp mode, basically the turbo was making more pressure than the ecu wanted, the ecu couldn’t control it fast enough so it went into limp mode, reduced power and boost, surprised you got that on stock programming

    Hi all

This week I had fpm done, warmed up from dealer, 1st full beans squirt in 2nd & 3rd , display showed engine service now! “Wtf”, when I arrived at my destination 3 miles later, turned car off , then on , message gone, not done it since? Not due a service for a few months yet either and mileage is low. Oil level ok , topped up once ,1/4 litre after 1st 1500 miles a couple of months ago, Water level ok.

um , will go back to dealers if it happens again…

Hi spoke to fred at mountune today, and he said if you hit the Rev limiter it can cause the issue which mine did,so nothing to worry about  must learn to change gear quicker done to many miles  in dsg car .

I’ve just had this exact same problem. Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster for this club. I can find anything that could go wrong with the RS here.

Hey guys, i need your advice.

my car threw a check engine light yesterday.
went to the shop, put it in obd and got some turbo fault codes.
It makes insufficient power/ boost but there seams to be no leakage.
Its a 2016 ford focus rs, mountune intake, mountune recirculation valve and muffler delete. No further tuning or so …. anyone got advice or had this problem before ?

    Hello, new to the site.
rather than starting a new thread, can I add to this?
I have a 2016 RS running race de-cat, forge uprated recirculating valve and dreamscience v3 re-map.
was driving along today (not raking it) and there was a huge loss of power. There are no warning lights on, no noise or smoke but the turbo gauge doesn’t move on acceleration and the car is slow to pick up.
    Any ideas!  T.i.a.
