    Hello Jasoni

I’m looking at a Mk2 Lotus Cortina or an old TVR as I really don’t use it enough at all.

Ooh lotus cortina ,nice. Dont know about the TVR you will probably not be using that at all but wont be out of choice. Im having the same issue with mine, having to convince the misses about owning the RS rather than in her words just sat on the drive. Shes not said much of late since i expressed interest in a new RS5 and upon us visiting the audi dealership  her seeing the price. She must now understand what a bargain the RS is.

Just drive them, that’s what they are designed/bought for….. won’t be collectable for 20+ years

i have to agree I said virtually the same some 3 hours prior your post –

“To keep the value anywhere reasonable be prepared to hold onto this model for no less than 20 years and by 30 years old you may be in profit” ?

Even with sensible miles it will still have good value, condition, spec and history are key. Something that has stood around for 20 years is probably going to be in worse condition unless it had been fully preserved and stored correctly.

We are all a long time dead, these will outlive quite a few of us, enjoy it while you can.

Shame you’re selling after all the work and money you’ve thrown at it. Someone’s going to get a good car there.

Seeing a few folk selling-up after minimal miles…..maybe just not the right car for everyone.

For and apart from, the hugely “over hyped” and actual low percentage failure rate of the chocolate blocks. THIS car is actually fantastic. Just my opinion thou ?

I’ve decided to keep it as a garage queen, as the RS2 is and I’ve had that since 2000 and it’s done only 3250 ish road miles and around 250 race days in 17 years. So by the time I’m at least 70, it may be worth more than a whole nut choc bar, but by then who’ll care !!!!!!

You’ll need to ask the new owner. When I had it NO recall or warranty  work was undertaken.

I’ve got the car now and I did contact trustford regarding the recall and they said that it had been back in for the head gasket recall !!!

also is the 3 year service plan and 5 year extended warranty passed on with the car or does it terminate when car is sold.

still runs like a dream ?

The warranty and service plan. As far as I’m aware they both follow the car.

The dealer I traded in to being Evans Halshaw Lincoln, they may of had the warranty work undertaken prior to a future sale.

This is the dealer details give them a call, if they did the work they should be able to give you some further information.

Evans Halshaw (Ford), 1 Outer Circle Road, Lincoln. LN2 4HZ.
