Congrats RSgaz, so glad you are happy with it. Our cars are such fun cars and for you to get the balance right between  enjoyable sounds when getting stuck in versus no drone on the highway runs is perfect. Well done indeed. Enjoy the focusedlyfe!

RSGAZ I was really bordering on wether or not to go res or non res, had a few others on other forums say non res milltek moans and drones like a banshie at highway cruising. Especially unbearable with windows down.

I dont particularly mind loud, its the drone and the tin can buzz shit i cant stand.  Like that garbage over priced armytrix. Just listen to it on youtube, andthen for kicks listen tothe type R armytrix too.  Sounds like shit.  Sounds like a pissed off bumble bee.

I can’t decide on this either. I think i decided on the Milltek, not sure about non res. Will it be annoying for me driving it and everyone around, neighbours, cats and kids? Im 39 and don’t want to look like a 19 year old fast and furious wannabe 😉

I’ve got Milltex non res fitted to mine and absolutely love it.

100% no drone on motorways.. you don’t hear it unless you give it some and the noise is only when your on throttle.

I will admit to it being loud on cold start up but it goes quiet very quickly (1 min after start up)

lots of random pops and bangs when ever you want them in sport just a little bit of throttle and lift and ???

What can you tell me about the Milltek non res with the valved closed? Does it make much more noise than standard normal mode?

I don’t care if the non res its ultra loud with the open valved but I’d like it to be as quieter (or nearly) as the stock exhaust when the valved is closed

hey guys.  i had the full cobra venum system fitted with the 200 cell cat.  i was worried that i had made a mistake choosing this sys at first.  it was really loud at first listen…almost comical.  but after just a few days of daily driving…i have more than warmed up to the sound.  i wouldn’t have it any other way.  it has a true rally sound and the pops are really something.  having the valve option for highways really cuts down on the drone…but doesnt completely dismiss the drone.  ive always felt that if you are going to have a truly loud sys…drone is in avoidable.  anyway…drone or no drone…this sys is awesome.

i was not impressed with the tips…they are huge and after messing with them trying to get them straight..i stripped a bolt and had to remove them.  it actually looks better without them.  i love when accidents turn out for the better.

    thanks for listenen

Has anyone fitted the Cobra valved and resonated cat back with the standard cat? I’m looking for a 3″ exhaust that’s a little deeper than stock but not much louder, thanks.

    Really interesting reads here…..

I’m in the market for a cat back, my two contenders are Milltek and Mountune. Question is which one ? I’ve heard loads on the internet both sound great however the cold start is it disturbing for neighbours ?

Appreciate any comments you have …

    Thanks

@ Julian.. neighbours?  remember, an RS is for life, the neighbours can always move !

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

I have the Milltek version with resonated and non-resonated. but only resonated is street legal here in Switzerland. I like the sound of both but with non-resonated OMG it is so perfect the sound! deep sound, perfect bangs and pops!

I choose Milltek because it is avaiable street legal in Switzerland and because the tail pipes were the only one I really liked! Bigger than stock but not like Mongoose just ugly… And now after 15’000km of hard use, still like brand new after a bit of cleaning. no rust or something. really I do not regret my choise for the Milltek system! Good stuff, optic is nice and the sound really aggressiv =)

I have tried the Cobra Sport (non valved) with both non-resonated and resonated, the drone with non-resonated was unbearable, the added resonator is very small and although it reduces drone, it’s not good enough for my ears, going to go back in spring and get them to make it larger to reduce the drone frequencies more, especially deceleration at 2 to 3000 revs, the build and look of the exhaust is fantastic, the pops are more random and much more menacing, the exhaust sounds great at idle, deep and mellow, the standard disappears at idle completely, 75% happy, hope to be 100% when I go back to Cobra in Sheffield around Spring time, will post results then, the lack of valve may be an issue, going to block one pipe with rags to see if it makes much difference, if it does I might add the valved section back in, we will see

I’m in the market for an exhaust. Would like to go sports cat too at some point. Thinking miltek non res or mountune. Anyone heard these side by side? Call me juvenile but im looking for maximum pops and bangs on demand, but also not too much drone on a cruise. Sounds like miltek is a good option. Mine is FPM375 and my wife’s is standard.
