Order from mountune "needs photo of my id"

hi, I’ve ordered a supression chamber to my rs from mountune and today i’ve got an email from them (yes the email address checks out) with this:

“Our system has marked your order as having a possible risk of being fraudulent, it is therefore our procedure / company policy to obtain a copy of your photo ID as a security precaution. Once this is confirmed we will ensure your order is processed immediately.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Wth is this crap? I have never in my life being asked to show my id to a company when buying stuff online before. Is this normal for mountune?

they wouldn’t process my order until I gave them what they asked for so sent them some I’d and the order was processed straight away

Yea, I ereased the last 4 numbers of my social security number in my id and they have now sent my order. Might be a random thing like 1 out of 15 who gets it maybe?.. Anyway, feels very fishy…
