Went to my local Waitrose today rather than Tesco as I don’t like to mix with poor people, and was more than shocked to be offered a hand job. These two foreign gentlemen were offering to hand wash my car. I could tell they were foreign because they had a sun tan, looked as though they’d bought their clothes from a Sports Direct reject shop, spoke with an accent and were extremely hard working. They had this trolley thing that seemed to contain everything they needed, but what perplexed me was, where do they get their water from? They weren’t trailing a massive hose behind them so I guessed they just huffed and puffed on the car as you do with a pair of glasses or maybe used harmful chemicals. Now, when I wash my car I use gallons of the stuff. In fact you know when I’ve washed my car because there’s usually a hosepipe ban afterwards as the reservoirs have been emptied. So what do they use to clean a car? I did see one that they’d just finished and it did look OK but we’re all a bit paranoid aren’t we so is there any chance of damage to the paintwork etc. At £5 a go and having it all done ready after shopping seems worth a punt. Anyone brave enough to have given it a try?

I’d have taken the hand job but id rather let a Chimpanzee at Chester wash my car.

Takes a brave (or stupid) person to pay £5 for a scratch job!.

Not a chance of me using them. The chemicals they use aren’t PH neutral and so will strip of any protection you might have on the paintwork and the cloths are filthy as they get used on all the previous cars without being rinsed. I bet they don’t even change them if dropped on the floor. I would rather spend a couple of hours myself washing with 2 buckets!!

Next time you go and have some time on your hands do what a friend of mine used to do at tesco,s,As you walk past a scruffy car lift the wiper blades up,they will take that as you want the car washing ,then wait till they wash it and wait for the owner to return and see the argument develop because they did,nt want it washing.

Thank you Andy for helping me regain my faith in human nature. I was beginning to think the world was full of boring people with no sense of fun.
