Has anyone had any issues with Sync2/3 with a Static/White noise
Seen below in this video :
Had this twice within a week , If you try and listen to another radio station or Bluetooth from mobile still get this noise, If you turn the engine off and lock the car, leave this for 10 minutes get back in and start the car its works fine.
The car is a 16 Plate and My version on Sync 2 is V 3.8
I had something similar a couple of times on my 16 plate car but it seems to have gone away. I also have Sync 2 (but I couldn’t tell you what version). When my car had its first service in May I asked for the Audio Software to be updated to the latest version (I think there was a software update to fix Sync systems with poor quality sound and no bass) but they said they wouldn’t have time to apply it (Services only on a Saturday). I don’t know whether they did manage to do the update or not but the issue has not appeared in probably six months.
Any software updates need to be made during Mon to Fri, as Ford turn off their servers out of hours at weekends. I think it’s something to do with minimising the hacking risk.
Took two hours to do my Sync 2 audio update. Time varies depending on how many dealers are accessing the servers, local speeds, etc. Hasn’t made that much of a difference to the quiet rear speakers issue. I still have to set the speaker bias to the rear to compensate.
I’m hoping that the software update fixes this issue as its so annoying, Ive had terrible after sale service from Ford, Before I even picked the car up I had asked them to make sure the Latest firmware for Sync 2 was placed onto the car and also update the SD card the latest maps, which is the F6 card, after checking a couple of days later they had done neither, the SD card was the F5 Model 2015-2016 and the SYNC firmware was V 3.8
Oh and to make it even worse the car was fitted with after market security called ODB protector which they never told me about and after investigating it online I should of received two RFID cards which disables the system after picking up the car 11 days ago I’m still waiting !
My wife’s sync 2 system on her 2016 Kuga had the same issue. Disconnected and swapped all speakers with no change. Took it to independent audio specialist, confirmed common issue with sync 2 & 3, he removed the control unit which sits behind the display/cd player under the covers, sent it off to his people to test, found defective power supply in that unit, repaired now back in. No issues since, but it’s only been 3 weeks, but it never lasted that long previously.
cost wise ….£290 all in.
