Tapping noise from gearbox and reverse really hard to get into gear

could anyone help please , my 66 plate mk3 rs only mod stage two clutch and flywheel .tappety noise coming from gearbox very hard to get into reverse gear , noise disappears when the clutch is pressed in. Have been told it’s the main gearbox bearing .need help please locating someone to look at it or can someone advise if they have heard of this before. Car has 40,00 very hard miles thrashed starts at lights and through all the gears every opertunity so can’t be surprised gearbox may be ruined but need advice what to do next….

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

There’s about three or four blue ones by me , I am in ashford .mine is blue but there are a few about .had some body work done in bedfont so could be me….

oh I see one not far form the BP garage up on the dual carriageway set back, and one on the way to ashmans garage with a MK2 in the garden too !

There will be loads in Ashford. I know of 2 x RS2000’s with Cossy engines, at least 1 Mk3 Focus (+ 1 in stanwell) and a Mk3 Escort RS turbo.

One of my old stomping grounds. Id love a quid for every Race up and down the A316 between the BP garage and the A30 in my youf!.

I am right by that road , it’s like a drag strip I use it to get to work , and use the rs day to day…I haven’t grown out of driving flat out yet.that’s why my gearbox is shot .but mobile speed camera vans are about a lot for now .

Guys if you look at my post at the top do you know anyone or anywhere that can help with the gearbox near me….

totally stuck at the moment .
