    Merry Xmas everyone.

I was hoping that I could get some advice.

I’ve had a viper alarm installed for about a year ago and have had no problems, but last night 5am something strange happened. The alarm went off by itself and when I disarmed it using the viper lcd fob the hazard lights continued to flash. I tried arming and disarming it several times but the indicators continued to flash. I went out to take a look and tried to unlock the doors, but they wouldn’t open. In the end I had to use the key to get in, once I was in I tried to start up the car but it wouldn’t start up. Not even the dash lit up. I armed the car but the doors wouldn’t lock, so I had to use the key again. Got back inside and it went off again so in the end I had to keep it disarmed but locked the doors.

Has anyone else had this problem before?

I’m not quite sure what to do, I’ve tried searching online but to no avail, and I am finding it hard to find any support for the viper system in the uk

Any advice would be great, or if anyone knows a specialist in west London that they can put me in touch with I’d be very grateful .

    Many thanks

ooh, nasty one Ray, sorry no idea at all, just to say, your issue is exactly the reason I would never have any aftermarket alarm thing fitted to a car, I just do my own stuff. good luck with it. P.S  can’t you go back to the dude who installed it?

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

    Thanks for the responses guys.

Anthony from Secure my car ltd is the guy who installed it. I have dropped him a message on fb so just waiting on a response, hopefully he will sort it but seeing as it’s so close to Christmas I doubt it will be any time soon.

I’m kind of having second thoughts on getting an alarm system especially on a car with so much tech, but it’s either this or the chance of getting it stolen.

Well at least the thieves won’t be able to start it either if they decide they want it!

Have the same alarm also fitted by Anthony, strangely mine went off the other day as well.  But I had put CTEK charger on and I think the changing voltage set it off.

Only other issues I had, when I wasn’t able to unlock it or get in was due to the battery in the key fob going flat, not much warning. Perhaps not the same issue but I’d replace it if you haven’t tried it. Plus keep a spare.  Potentially it’s not getting a correct signal to disarm etc.

Despite what some say not have some sort of extra security isn’t an option.

oh yes, you definitely need a load of security layers on the car, just that I don’t have my cars wires cut by folk and have non ford approved stuff fitted in a car which is very fussy about its electronics!

    Cheers guys.

I managed to get it sorted, Anthony got in touch really quickly, i was pleasantly surprised as it’s Christmas Eve.

It ended up being the car battery, it got probably got drained due to the cold and the fact that it hadn’t been driven since Tuesday. Jumped it and went for a long drive, seems to be ok now, alarm arms but locking doesn’t so need to use the oem fob to do it. I’ll get that sorted after the new year.

I have multiple layers of security, but I guess if someone wants it that much they’ll probably come into the house to get it.

The fob I have is the lcd one, so I can charge it via USB.

Anyway glad I got it somewhat sorted!

    Merry Christmas again all.
