What's the best oil to use ?

Anyone got ideas on best engine oil to use ? ( uk ) as mine has done 4000 miles now and oil is low … Thank you ?

Castrol Edge 0w-40 seems to be a popular choice.

Are you losing oil?

No leaks … I presume they just burn a bit of oil ?? Anyone else need a top up? If so how many miles ?

Anyone used Mobil 1 fully synthetic 0-40 instead ?

Just had mine changed at a dealer, 1500 miles, believe the Castrol Edge 0-40 is the official oil to use.

Mine is low at 1700 miles but I think it has not been at the max since I got it, same with the coolant. Both nearer the minimum than I would like, possible penny pinching by Ford?
I have Mobil 1 0W-40 left over from when I had a GTR, thinking it would be just as good if not better.

Anyone know how much oil I need to put in from min to max ( approx ) ?

I’ve found the answer … 0.85 litres is the max oil to use to get it from min to max on the dipstick 🙂

I’ve done close to 2500 miles now and bought a top up 1 litre can because I’m sure it’s moved in the downward direction since I got it..

Where are the minimum and maximum marks on the dipstick?

Hi folks.

Changed the oil on my RS @1800 miles for the ford recommended Castrol 0W-40 oil and a new filter. Checked the level  today  @ 5800 miles and no change on the dip stick and the cars performance is used on a daily basis if you get my drift.
