    AUSTRIA FORECAST
Cold, cloudy weather continues for the next few days, with light to moderate snowfalls, potentially 20-50cm (8-20″) accumulations over the next few days, but it looks like a return to sunshine and temperatures back above freezing for the weekend below 2000m.
    FRANCE FORECAST
There have been some big snowfall forecasts for the French Alps over the coming week, which will be great news even if they’re only half true. The most optimistic have pointed to 7-day snowfall totals of over a metre (40″), most intense over the next few days. This will clearly be great news and perfect timing ahead of the season start. Indeed, the main concern if forecasts are correct is too much snow!
    ITALY FORECAST
It’s looking increasingly snowy for the rest of the week across Italian slopes. In the west of the country, accumulations may be more than half-a-metre (20″) into the weekend. Significant snowfall is forecast further east too, if not quite so much.
    SWITZERLAND FORECAST
Cold and snowy across Switzerland through to the weekend, heaviest in the west where some higher slopes in the Valais region might see as much as a metre (40”) of snowfall by Sunday. Skies are then expected to clear and temperatures rise for a sunny start to next week.
    SCANDINAVIA FORECAST
Remaining cold, typically in the freezing point down to -20C range, and cloudy in the north but with more sunny spells, particularly at the weekend, further south. Light to moderate snowfall at times for most areas, totalling 10-20cm (4-8”) by the weekend.
    EASTERN EUROPE FORECAST
Fairly promising pre-season conditions for much of Eastern Europe. There is a wide ark of temperatures forecast from overnight -10C lows up high to daytime +10Cs. Snowfall forecast is in the low centimetres rather than substantial accumulations, but it is looking increasingly wintry.
    ROCKIES FORECAST
It’s been warmer and drier since the weekend but still freeze-thaw in open high slopes with lo0ws in the 20s Fahrenheit, and daytime highs getting up into the 50s. It’s looking fairly settled for the rest of the week with just a chance of a snow shower up high into the weekend.
    USA WEST FORECAST

Mostly sunny weather for the week ahead with freeze-thaw conditions. Temperatures dropping into the low 20s overnight up high but making the 40s and 50s during the afternoon. Best conditions from mid-morning to early afternoon as the snowpack warms, but before it’s too warm.

Wind and snowfall warnings in place as another storm heads for B.C.

Wind warnings, snowfall warnings and special weather statements are in place for parts of B.C. on Friday as another fall storm is forecast to move in. While this storm is not expected to be as strong as this week’s bomb cyclone, BC Hydro is warning that some remote areas of Vancouver Island may be without power until Saturday. As of Friday at 10 a.m., about 8,000 BC Hydro customers remain without power in the Lower Mainland and on the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island.
Windy conditions are expected on Friday on Vancouver Island, in Metro Vancouver southwest and in southern sections of the Sunshine Coast. Environment Canada said an area of low pressure off the Washington Coast is forecast to move north and approach Vancouver Island on Friday afternoon. Peak winds are expected for most areas on Friday afternoon and into the evening. Strong winds will ease Friday night or early Saturday. “While this low is not as intense as the major storm that affected the area on Tuesday and Wednesday, and peak wind speeds are forecast to be generally lower, strong winds may still cause damage and disruptions, and slow down clean up efforts”.
