Quick and easy how to on upgrading your Puddle lamps to LED’s. Will hopefully avoid people risking damage removing mirror casings etc which was how these were changed on the MK2 (according to other guides out there at least).

Why Ford skimped on this in the first place is beyond me!

1 – Adjust the mirror to it’s outward most setting before gently using both hands to ease the mirror off, being careful of the attached demister wires.

Either remove the demister cables or use a microfiber cloth on top of the mirror casing to rest the mirror on.

2 – Ease off grey rubber light housing to reveal the bulb (it’ll be very snug to pull the length of the bulb out but does come out!)

Swap bulb to LED – I used Ultra LED 501/W5W from Euro Car Parts (2 twin packs for £12 on a 30% off weekend)

Replace in reverse. Enjoy!

I also replaced the boot bulbs with LED’s too

Simple but effective!

Not at all after I figured it out. Could only find guides to change them on the MK2 RS so ended up taking the casing off etc but luckily all went back together perfectly. Just be careful taking the mirror off that’s all!

Order them before midnight and you’ll get the 30% off too (or wait for their next promo which is never far away!)

I’ve got new bulbs for the puddle lamps and indicators.

Probably a daft question,

but how exactly do you remove the mirror glass,

had a quick look/play last night, and feels like I’m going to snap the mirror.

Fuzz – adjust the mirror to it’s outward most setting (so the gap around the mirror and the case is at it’s largest car side). Using both hands to spread the pressure, gently ease the mirror off (slowly increasing pressure until it comes) and it will just pop off – you’d be very unlucky to break it doing it this way!
