    Last Wednesday I managed to flatten my battery, called a guy out to jump my car, drove it for about 20 miles then did a 70 mile round trip on the Friday.  Drove this morning (Sunday) and did a 10 mile trip and parked it up.  Needed to move my car 6 hours later and flat again.  I’ve charged the battery up praying it will start tomorrow morning so I can get the voltage checked at work tomorrow………..

    Anyone with a similar problem?

    Cheers

    Nope, sounds like a dead battery to me – I’d definitely start there (by replacing it).

    Does anyone know what type/make or part number for the RS battery?

    Cheers

    Hi Joe, I would check with a local Ford garage in the morning, your RS is on a 17 plate. I seem to remember the battery is covered for three years.

    i would check for a current drain before condemning the battery, have you got dash cam or anything? maybe give the battery a good charge at least overnight and see how it goes??

    No nothing.

    No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

    Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

    I am sure I have read it somewhere, but I suspect the battery is only covered for one year. I know replacement batteries offer warranties beyond a year. I may be wrong but I seem to think this issue has been aired in the past.

    @71-bda, yes, I have a plug in dash cam which I put in last August when I bought the car, it shuts down once the doors are locked, last night I unplugged it, put the head lights to manual, turned the radio off and the heating last night and it started ok this morning.

    @coastliner
    , I’m going to get in touch with Ford today once I have my battery tested now that it’s lightened up.

    11.97 is considered a discharged battery, it obviously needs a proper charge, the alternator will not do that like a proper charger /conditioner will. Should be minimum 12.4 I think , and even thats considered not fully charged.

    A fully charged battery is I think considered to be over 12.6 volts.
