Sorry to bore you with this thread but thought you guys might have some valuable input.

Just wondering if anyone got a refund from their travel agent yet for cancelled holidays since lockdown?

I was going with Virgin to Florida at Easter. They firstly promised a refund in 2 weeks, then 90 days (“but it will be sooner than that”), then actually it will be 90 days, now “we can’t say when you’ll get a refund”. Plus trying to get in touch is impossible.

Anyone been successful in all this?

Eventually after 2 months of hassling them, I got my money back from Expedia and the airline.

Got our money back from TUI this morning after being told at the beginning of the month it would be 14 working days, spent a fortnight trying to phone them before this date. Try your bank or credit card provider as this was the route I was going down had nothing happened this week

Thanks all, I’ve already contacted my credit card so see what that brings. Fingers crossed. Any other business ran like travel agents and they would be officially insolvent!

I was booked to go to Florida with virgin on 24th April and when they cancelled, they wouldn’t offer a refund, only a credit or i could select a new date. I just rebooked it for the same time next year, hopefully this gets sorted before then.
Oh and now it looks like I’ll have to fly from Heathrow, not Gatwick : ( that’s not convenient for us either.

Virgin were adamant that they wouldn’t give me a refund, only offering the same deal as you. I quoted them their TS and C’s and eventually they conceded to a refund. I didn’t want the credit for another holiday as I couldn’t get insurance against the virus plus I had no idea how long the while thing was going to carry on for. Hopefully we both get sorted out!

I had a full cash refund from Jet2 without any chasing for my stag do in May. I’ve now had a voucher to cover my deposit which is all I’ve paid so far with Tropical skies for my honeymoon to The Maldives in October. I’m the one postponing this trip but they’ve kindly wavered their cancellation policy for me and the voucher is valid for 5 years. Can’t fault either company ??

Nice one @buz ! Glad you got sorted like some of the other guys above. Seems Virgin are pretty bad when I speak to others who have booked with them.

I was ok with having a credit and rebooking at first because we still wanted to go, but now I’m we having trouble trying to get new travel insurance and also would like to add another person to the holiday, but it’s been impossible to get though to virgin.
Plus I’m now getting the feeling this whole virus thing might last for a good while to come yet and I’m not liking the idea of wearing a face-mask all day, everyday in the Florida heat around all the parks.

Tui have an online form you fill out and refund of money within a month thereafter. Don’t take the voucher +20%, I looked at the same holiday on the same dates next year and it was over 100% more than this year, then there will be travel insurance which no doubt will be considerably more!

Virgin offered me the same holiday next year but unsurprisingly, the price had increased by about £1k. I declined as you can’t get insurance that covers the virus plus who knows when this whole thing will be finished. Just want my money back. 2 months now and nothing from Virgin. Drives me mad.
