Apple and Sync 3

48 years old and wish this stuff was as easy as rebuilding a transmission! I’m having trouble getting my 2017 RS to agree with my Iphone 6 with the text message feature. Contacts Check, phone calls check, Text messages NOPE ! My car displays a ” don’t have permission to access Messages. for the life of me I can’t find the setting in the phone. I should add that it has worked but isn’t now.

Have you turned on Siri in the phone settings ?

Yes Siri is on. I start the car and console shows contacts downloaded. all call features work(i.e. Call mudslinger) Bluetooth music works.   When I ask for text messages it displays a Sync does not have permission to access text please check phone settings

Ive not had any probs with this ,dont think text works via bluetooth , the text message function only works when its connected through the usb cable .

Ill check on mine  when i finsh work in 30 mins  and let you know

What @mudslinger said, had to have it plugged in via usb, then its on ‘carplay’ and you’ll be able to send and receive audible texts. Its decent!

Yup, just checked Text messaging only works when connected to carplay
