I would like to say hello to the forum. I’m a new owner of an unsold 2017 RS I picked up last week.  I have to say it is one of the more entertaining cars I have driven in a while.  I was tired of my Cayman S after 5 years which replaced an Elise I drove for 7 which replaced a Caterham I drove for 5.  Yeah, I like cars.  I will do almost any mechanical work (I built the Caterham from a kit) and restored a Morgan 4/4 and Triumph TR3.

My wife’s car is a CTSV wagon.

I know this is blasphemy, but I don’t think I’m going to modify this car at all except suspension and brakes (Although the stock ones are pretty impressive) for track days.   I have the optional forged wheels with those silly soft Michelin’s and have mounted some ultra performance all season for cold weather driving.  The Michelin’s are for track/auto cross.  For an old fart and ex amateur racer (65) im not dangerous on a track.

I hope to to pick up a lot of pointers on suspension, alignment, track driving an AWD platform, etc. thanks in advance for any info I glean.

Welcome Bill ! lets see some pics please ! I’m going to take a guess at Washington state.

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

    I’m in St Louis MO.

Here are pics . It’s just a regular Stealth  Gray with the RS2 package, forged wheels and , yuck, a sunroof.

The Cosworth decal was left over from my Lotus days, but, Cosworth did some of the R & D on this motor.  I got it from a vendor at the Goodwood Revival.  I like that a lot more than the Festival. But both are gearhead valahallas.

Sorry, can’t get pics to load.

Bill, the sunroof should be thought more of as a volume control for the pops and bangs and as an economy measure. You can tilt the roof up for louder pops and bangs, and you can also tilt it up for draught-free ventilation AND it saves you having the heater blower/fan on all the time trying to get air in ! My climate control is hardly ever on !  Back in the day if you had a  Escort RS turbo, Fiesta XR2 etc etc without a sunroof, you were deemed to have bought a pauper spec car , hence why all Sierra and Sapphire Cosworths came with a roof in the UK ! Nice.

Ok, full disclosure.  Back when the earths crust was cooling I bought a Fiests with the 1.8 Kent. Maybe 1980?  On a trip to Germany with the military, I bought all the stuff to bring it to XR2 specs, shocks and springs  tail lights, small spoiler I think, badge, carb and I think headlights( Euro standard halogens.  And yes it had a sun roof. If you put on the AC it slowed it.
