Hi all, new RS owner ???

Hi everyone, I pick up my RS tomorrow, trading in my 15 plate ST. Are there any pearls of wisdom, things I should look out for etc…

And considering getting a tracker fitted, if anyone has done so, would they recommend the company?

@Martin, hi and welcome congratulations enjoy the day don’t forget to take lots of pics and the long way home ? Have a look in the club shop and get Ghost System asap there’s several on here who can recommend tracker.

Thanks, I’ll have a look around the site. I had a massive grin on the test drive, especially as they allowed me to go out alone due to current “social distancing”!

its a 16 plate, one owner and only 8k miles so hopefully we’ll looked after

@Martin, is it a dealership car? If it is get them to put on the hazard warning system. It alerts you to camera hazards if you get what I mean ???

I’m just tight and didn’t want to pay £15-20 per month for a tracker. I just hid an old mobile phone with an external battery. Then put Life360 app on it. Works a charm and in 20 months of ownership, I put less than £20 in data on it.

As bobcat says, get a third party alarm/immobilizer. I read up and decided the Ghost was best. Never looked back since, it gives me some piece of mind. I especially like the auto door locking option on it.

I also went for a disclock and dummy OBD (hangover from my old FST).

Good luck with your RS, I’m sure you’ll love it. Plenty of advice on here if you want it.

I use the tracker shop one’s not really for security so much for the live track, as piece of mind if it has to be left at dealer and so on. As i only use the car on weekends i get an instant alert if its moved during the week (full custom changeable parameters). I also keep a medium size sledge hammer in the van, just incase i get an alert. ? Just over £100 ish a year, simple DIY fit. Or you can get the one that fits direct into OBD port which is cheaper.
