    Hi!

Has there been any performance comparison made between the existing intercoolers on the market?

    Best Regards, Per-Anders.

There seems to be some big price differences between some of the offerings in the shop between £470 and £1800. The mountune cooler is at the cheaper end of the range at £630 and seems to offer the level of cooling required up to 500bhp I believe.

A comparison between cost vs benefit would be good.

I did not find it here in our forum but I did find a list elsewhere.

    • Price comparison
    • Dimension
    • Weight
    • Tube/Fin vs Bar/Plate
    • mods needed to install

Even Mountune USA is different from Mountune UK. UK has tube/fin which is lighter compared to the US bar/plate. Tube/fin has less tendency of balloning and had more cooling surface.

I looked at ETS, Mountune USA/UK, Steemspeed, Mishi and two others.

Ended with Mountune USA as it’s the most cost effective and the largest I can install w/o trimming anything.

The Mountune one corrodes and the paint falls off……  I’m not impressed, it will need repainting or replacing in a year or two I guess, for reference I’ve done just over 2K miles in the last year, so not heavy use.

Thats not good on the mountune one if it’s not up to the job here in the UK. You want to fit and forget which doesn’t sound like this one is like that.
I’m sure it does the job but cosmetics is important too.

That’s one reason I opted for the ETS intercooler, it’s a pita having to repaint it after a year or two.

I wanted ETS or Spec R as it would do for more power than i need, build quality is much better than others i looked at. Bigger the max power limit, better the cooling was my thoughts 🥶

Went ETS as lucky to get one second hand in mint condition, cheap….. 😆

@GM, thanks for the info. Yeah I was looking at the 4″ anodized blue from ETS from an RS owner $700 shipped.

The US Mountune FMIC is L640mm x H215mm x D122mm and I got it for $674 BNIB shipped.

The Mishimoto is on sale at the moment and the full kit with hard pipe.

The hard pipe is 2.5” and not a small restrictive mountune item.

Mishimoto is good kit and comes with a lifetime warranty. This will out perform the Mountune (From China) kit  Their are bigger coolers out their such as Soec-R, Norris Designs. All depends on what you want…..
