So I’ve just bought a 2016 RS focus in blue to replace my blue Renault Megane RS which I’ve owned for the last 3 years and has been faultless and here they both are but already I’m concerned with all this business with the head/head gasket issue as mine hasn’t been done. So not a good start on my return to Ford(The last Ford I owned was an escort RS Turbo many years ago) and the most expensive car I’ve ever bought. I just hope I can get it fixed and relax and start enjoying my new car.

That’s the main reason I didn’t pull out after putting a deposit down a few weeks ago when I didn’t know about the head gasket issues. It’s my daily drive so if anything does go wrong Ford will have to fix it. Also I still can’t think of another car I’d rather have. As good as the Civic type R is it just doesn’t appeal to me in the same way the Focus does and it’s only 2 wheel drive, The Golf R is just so dull looking and new not available yet Megane RS seems a little under powered compared to the Focus. So still happy with my choice

why worry about headgaskets when you can have fun like this..

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

Hi Paul, a warm welcome to the forum.

Don’t let the head gasket issue put you off a brilliant car, I have covered getting on for 10k miles and no problems with water loss. Mine makes me smile every time I take it out, I hope you enjoy yours as much.

    Hi Paul

    welcome to the dark side

looks like 2 boxers facing one another down in your photo

enjoy the RS, positives far outweigh the head gasket issues, they will be sorted by ford

May the Ford be with you

Had my car a week and been enjoying every drive in it. On the first day I had to pick of my girlfriend’s brother after football and he was there with all his mates waiting. When I drove in round the car park I heard one of them say “Wow is that a focus RS” and all the other 17 year old lads were looking longingly at the car. Made me smile in a way no other car I’ve own has done for a long time.

Today I tried seeing how long I could keep it in track mode while out on the road. After a few miles this was too much for either myself or my GF to bare so put it back in sports mode so I could still enjoy the pops.

Thanks for the welcome to the forum

Forget about the HG issue, it will get fixed, just drive and enjoy.

The Golf and Civic do nothing for me either. In fact if I had to pick a Golf I’d probably got for the GTI.

I must admit the RS is the most admired car, in respect to complimentary remarks, I’ve ever had.

It’s annoying they wont test my early car without a letter but I’m sure it’ll get done in the end and I’m driving it every day and still smiling over a week later every time I go out

Today I decided I’d better check the coolant level just to be sure and I suddenly realised I’ve not had the bonnet open since I bought it a week ago and something made me smile as this is the first ford I’ve owned for a long time. My last one was a red S2 RS turbo Escort and for a moment i thought I was back in the 80’s with my RS Turbo again having to prop the bonnet open with a metal stay. I thought all bonnets opened on gas stays and had done for years but it seems I was wrong.

If you want gas struts, have a look on here in the shop. Several people have bought them and fitted them
