    Hi guys

Has anyone installed the above? What are your experiences in terms of faster rev up/more power, and possibly more vibrations in the cab?

Arguments for not removing balance shaft assembly?

    -thx!

The cat should pick up fast due to the lesser weight involved in turning the crank.

Horse power; well anything attached to the crank takes power away from the wheels such as Air-con takes around 10bhp when turned on. But removing the counter balance a power increase would be more than likely negligible.

The main benefit is to let the engine spin up faster and the oil control to help stop oil starvation to the crank bearings.

    RS Edition.

The sump is a consideration if you track the car and pull fair G-forces but not really needed for road use.

Ford fit the balance shaft for a reason.  Some engines will be fine but if it helps cancel vibration or harmonics at certain engine speeds then it’s doing its job and there’s a good chance we would never realise that.  Many makers utilise balance shafts – my sons EVO had one as does my daughters Alfa GTV

By removing them, do we know better?

Its a long stroke thumper, 94mm stroke i seem to recall, so the balance shaft definitely helps with vibrations. Take that out and also fit the roll restrictor and the car will be all horrible inside especially when Idling at the lights !

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?
