Hi all, posted on a few of the other topics.
Picked car up on Monday.
Shadow black (too old for a shouty car, but that’s another thread…), standard seats, forged alloys, painted calipers, luxury pack, winter pack, heated steering wheel (very nice on a cold day, yes, getting old…), active city stop.
Initial feeling was it doesn’t feel as quick as the ST but put that down to careful driving to run the engine in, keeping revs down and not giving it too much throttle.
Tried sports mode yesterday and it transforms the car – they shouldn’t have bothered with the standard mode. Still careful with the throttle and keeping revs down but you can feel the power. Even got a few pops at about 3,500 revs.
Suspension not as bad as I was fearing after reading some reviews – even sports setting is just about bearable. Car feels very planted and agile. Better than the Mk3 ST, which was better than the Mk2 ST.
Had a Ceramic coating applied – only learned about this from the forums last week so did a bit of quick research and booked it in for yesterday. Completed all the prep work yesterday but couldn’t apply the ceramic coat due to rain so came back this morning and finished off.
Had read a few comments that it’s overpriced and you can do it yourself but the guy spent about 3 hours prepping it yesterday and another 2.5 hours rinsing it off and applying the coatings today. £380 for Gtechniq coatings both exterior & interior protection. Considering the time spent I don’t think the service is overpriced. Sure if you want to spend the time doing it yourself you can save yourself the money.
