0-40w is the correct spec for every car out that comes out of Germany to the Europe and into the Australasian market.  Its what my dealer charged me for the at first oil change.  I’d hate to see the oil pressure on a freezing morning start up on 5-50w.  The needle is already touching the end of the scale at light tick over (its winter over here in NZ).

Given that oils are so crucial to performance, economy and longevity of modern engines it would be very unusual for a manufacturer to get this spec wrong in an owners manual so I wonder why the difference.  Ambient temperature might not be the reason as the North American market has huge extremes of temperature both hot and cold.  I suggest checking with your dealer before putting 5-50w oil into the sump, just in case. I seem to remember a string on this forum commenting on this exact same issue and confirming 0-40w as the correct oil.  If correct I would be keen to know why there is a difference for what is supposed to be the same engine with the same tolerances.

    No nothing.

No Mods. No rockers. Just a chunky knob, thats now been replaced by an RS knob innit.

    No tackiness.

Std as Ford intended, but with a space saver wheel and jack and nuts and wheel brace. oh.. and flaps, a man has got to have flaps.

    Innit?

@ Tommy… for “up the road” Scotland, maybe 0w-30 would be better if its always soo cold pal !! 😎 If i was running one in Kuwait or Abu dhabi when its like 45C  I’d be running it on 20/50 !!

@ swede  maybe a Castrol 0w-60  or maybe one from Fuchs ( silkolene) like a Titan race pro R  or pro S 10w50 or 5w 40 just be careful warming it up if you’re in a cold climate with thickish oil and listen for tappet noise
