When I first noticed that my Sync 2 startup screen showed “FORD” instead of the “RS” logo, I couldn’t help but feel like something was off. It’s been bugging me ever since because, well, it’s an RS—it deserves to wear its badge proudly, even on the infotainment screen. I’ve got this nagging suspicion that somewhere down the line, a previous owner might’ve stripped the car of some of its best bits. The bucket seats are gone, and I don’t even have Sync 3, which I’m pretty sure these cars originally came with.
I can’t shake the feeling that someone gutted it for parts, maybe during a resale or some kind of downgrade. It makes me wonder what else might not be original anymore. Still, I’ve been looking into how I can at least fix the startup screen to restore a little zoom of that RS pride.
From what I’ve gathered, it might be possible with software like FORScan or even a trip to the dealership to check the as-built data. I’d probably need to poke around the system to see if it matches the car’s factory settings. Honestly, it’d feel pretty great to get that “RS” logo back on startup—it’s such a small thing, but it represents so much. It’s part of the car’s identity, and I want that to shine every time I start it up.
Now, if only I could figure out what other parts might’ve been swapped out. I might even consider restoring it to its original glory, bucket seats and all. Owning an RS is supposed to be special, and I’m determined to make it feel that way again.
